Great, powerful card (actually two cards HD4850 - this is a cheaper solution than CF ) - usually sold much more expensively - £170 and more. For some reason only Scan seems to have them relatively cheap.Nvidia's equivalents costs at least £240-250 (gtx 285) The deal is valid only until tomorrow (~12.00pm) and you will find it in TODAY ONLY Section.!!! Requires good PSU.

Free delivery for Hexus &AVforum participants.

Designed by SAPPHIRE, the new HD 4850 X2 comprises two complete HD 4850 graphics systems on a single PCI-Express card connected by an on-board PCI Express Gen 2 bridge chip. Each GPU has 800 stream process units and a 256-bit memory interface driving 1GB of GDDR3 memory, making a total of 2GB on-board memory. Four Dual Link DVI outputs are provided as well as TV-Out. This provides a choice of Multi-monitor operation or CrossFire mode in which 3D applications such as games use both on-board GPUs together to deliver a single accelerated output on the Primary display with industry leading levels of performance.

1GB of GDDR3 memory & 2.0 TeraFLOPS of GPU power
DirectX® 10.1 & PCI Express® 2.0 support
1600 stream processing units & 2 x 256-bit memory interface
24x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) and high performance anisotropic filtering
Dual mode ATI CrossFireX multi-GPU support for highly scalable performance
Dynamic geometry acceleration & DVD Upscaling
Game physics processing capability & Dynamic Contrast
ATI Avivo HD video and display technology & Dynamic power management with ATI PowerPlay technology
Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2) for Blu-rayand HD Video
Accelerated Video Transcoding(AVT) & Built-in HDMI with 7.1 surround sound support

A lot of bang for your bucks. Hot

Wasn't the ATI 4870 X2 on offer recently, around £240. Either way, bang for buck this baby. Considering I wanted to upgrade my AGP system and a lowly 3850 512MB x8 AGP is £80.

A 512MB framebuffer is a pretty damn huge bottleneck but at that price its pretty damn hard to argue tbh.

Not at all for me, A 4890 is a much better buy if you ask me, but it will find a buyer. hot.

This is a bargain. The cheapest 4890 is 50 quid more yet it is slower than the 4850x2. If you ask me its the other way around.

looks like the pricing has changed

This or a 4870 from Novatech for £30 cheaper....

Main thing worrying me about this card is the noise....

According to users and such (not the reviews, as they were all done before the latest revisions and catalyst driver updates) the new blue box revision has a quieter fan and bios installed. The old red box HD4850 X2 were pretty bad for noise apparently but then Sapphire brought out their new improved models.

Yeh, is it like a wind tunnel? My present Asus 4850 is pretty damn quiet, not sure about this baby. :D

A review suggests it's worth spending more for the 2Gb version. The difference was £40 at the time....

Conclusion
Our testing has shown that the amount of graphics memory of an HD 4850 or HD 4870 card is just as important as the GPUs' clock speeds. The Sapphire 2GB HD 4850 X2 comprehensively spanked the Sapphire 1GB HD 4850 X2 in every game at every resolution, just as 1GB HD 4870 cards have consistently outperformed 512MB HD 4870 cards. The marked difference in the Warhead performance shows that it's worth spending the extra £40 for the 2GB card. Folding performance is far below Nvidia's standard for ATI cards, but if this isn't a concern then either a £210 1GB HD 4870 or a £285 2GB HD 4850 X2 will serve you well.

You have to actually add it to your basket from that page, don't click on the card. Just add it straight to the basket.

This uses Sapphire non-reference cooler, I have the same type of heatsink (single fan though) on my Sapphire 4870 1GB, and set the fan-speed to 40% in Catalyst Control Centre and it blends in with the rest of my quiet system :)

I wouldn't bother - Scan will probably just cancel the order like they have with the Logitech webcams.

anyone know a good price for a 4850x2 2gb?

Got a HD4870X2 2GB off ebay for £173, New but OEM though.

It should have better driver support than a HD4850X2 since Sapphire are the only vendor making them.
