if it fails in the warranty period they can give you a partial refund based on how long they think the card would last for

I have never had a problem with Scan warrenty. The rare time I had a faulty item, they replaced it with no argument.

ok others havent had the same experience with graphics cards. was this for a graphics card.

Last thing I can remember was a motherboard. Don't think I have ever had to return a graphics card..
I had a look on their care/support forum, and I couldn't see any reference to what you were suggesting..

ok well can we take forums sponsored by scan with a pinch of salt? why don't you ask scan about their warranty policy if you don't trust me.

quickly found on google about the issue, older but the policy is still the same i believe.
