Did you buy this and get the 333GB platter version (00D6B0) ? I bought two from Scan a week ago and they were both 250GB platter versions.

Some batches of the WD10EACS are 333GB but it's luck of the draw. The only guaranteed GP drive with 333GB platters is the new WD10EADS which is more expensive.

It isn't expired, they have the same offer today.

I cant believe how cheap these are getting...Hd are getting throw away these days, they are obsolete after 6 months...

Voted Hot. Very good price. Picked up 2 of these myself last week for £153 so this is good value.

Is this one of those suitable for a Sky HD upgrade?
#10
I voted, you deal is only 2 pounds expensive, you are the best!
#11
Would this be suited to my Macbook as the Hard drive on it has just gone?

No this is a desktop (3.5") harddrive, 1TB HDs don't even exist yet in laptop (2.5") size.

Good deal, voted hot, although I'd rather pay £5 more and get the Samsung spinpoint http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143288 and have 7200 rpm (5400 rpm on the WD) and 32mb cache.

Coming up as £75.19 when you click through or is there a discount I'm missing?
#15

How long until these are around £50 do you reckon? Xmas? :p

I want one but think I will wait until I absolutely need it as they just keep getting cheaper
#18
yes, you're probably better off doing that.
#19
It's only 5400RPM instead of the usual 7200RPM
#20
^ Indeed, probably alright for a skybox or htpc but performance wise, better off going with the Samsung F1 for an extra £5.

Which makes it quieter and much lower power.

"Which makes it quieter and lower power"

And slower....

And the quieter thing is not ALWAYS true, dependant on how the company uses there materials that can dampen noise making it amplify much MUCH less.

It was just a snappy answer to an (apparently) silly comment.

I'd agree with you that hard drive characteristics that can't be defined in a couple of numbers, you need to read a couple of good reviews like this one and decide which one suits you.

get a samsung f1 instead £74 delivered much much faster the wd drives should be around £60 for their slow speed and tiny watts saving of about 3 watts over other drives green power my bottom it only uses about 3 watts less.
#26
Price the same, but free 2GB USB Drive thrown in at Today Only here.

Would still go for the F1 - just as reliable and faster, unless noise / power usage are ultra important.

A much better link to use is this one: http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/#1
