Hi all,

First deal post, be gentle :)

Was after a 1tb external and found this at what I think is a good price.

Anyone know what the drives inside are? or likely to be?
#4
and does anybody know the physical dimensions of this? Thanks!
#5
price does NOT include delivery cost @ £3.99
#6
the voucher knocks £2 off that though the actually code is FREEDELIVERY so you would think it would be delivered free...
#7
Looks like a whopper, reminds me of the big old Lacia 'big disks'. Could this it be 2x500Gb drives?

Hot in anycase.

It does look quite big! I doubt it is infact 2 x 500GB drives however I would imagine though that airflow is quite good as most get quite warm with extended use.

if you add another item to bring it to over £70 can you pay over 3 months?? or is that only on a per item basis?
#11
Anyone know any good deals on internal drives or would i be better getting this one and ripping the drive from it?
#12
Im also looking for some good deals on internal drives. If there are none, how would I go about taking the drives out of this and using them as internals?
#13
i'd rather go for the 1tb toshiba drive from Amazon for £74.95 delivered

much better design than this one and i already have the 320gb version so know they are reliable .

Oddly enough they seem to carry the same manufacturers part number:

Blue LED on the front may cause blindness!

It is getting to 70p per GB, if it drops much more to say 30p per GB it is actually worth stopping and storing a lot of burnt DVDs (not all as you would still need some alternative backup) as a quality DVD is about 3.5p per GB of DVD disk. As you would need 2 reams of 100 DVDs to get to about 880GB of storage so an external disk of 1TB or 1.5TB takes alot less space!

That is a very thoughtful observation and quite interesting.More importantly though how on earth did hartzler draw that arrow to the product no. Hmmm.....veeery inteeresting.but....("Rowan and Martin's Laugh -in "Circa 1972.)Anyone remember the German soldier behind the aspadistra plant?

Ditto - ideally from Amazon as I have some vouchers burning a hole......

If you remove the drive I guess you invalidate the warranty. Bit strange that you can get externals for the same / cheaper than an internal at the moment. Heat added.

Thanks to the OP for the deal..ordered!..hotted!!

Just a word about the 'free' delivery code 'FREEDELIVERY'

When You checkout it suggests that the standard delivery has been reduced to £1.99 from £3.99 and IF you select this option the 'free delivery' voucher doesn't work. However if you select the 'express delivery' option the voucher DOES work... ie. £3 = express delivery (was £5) (1-2 days) vs £2 standard delivery (3-5 days) You can also modify delivery options right before you pay.
