The Deskstar 7K2000 hard drive range delivers upto a colossal two terabytes of storage capacity and 7200 RPM performance in a standard 3.5-inch form factor. The overall capacity is dependant on which version is purchased as these models are available to purchase in a range of capacities.

Now in its fourth-generation, the 7K2000 is based on a robust mechanical design that continues to set the industry standard for quality and reliability.

Through a patented ramp load/unload design, data heads are moved to a ramp away from the disk where they rest during periods of inactivity. This greatly minimizes the risk of shock damage by eliminating direct contact between the heads and disks, reducing wear and heat while improving overall drive reliability and power efficiency. The Deskstar 7K2000 also incorporates thermal fly-height control (TFC) technology which uses an integrated heating element to precisely maintain a constant fly-height throughout read and write operations to enhance overall data integrity, drive performance and reliability. The 7K2000 features industry-standard native 512-byte sector formatting, ensuring compatibility with mainstream computing environments.

The Deskstar 7K2000 offers an exceptional blend of capacity and power efficiency, with idle power savings over previous generation products up to 10%. On a watts per gigabyte basis, idle power has improved over 120%. Leveraging eighth-generation power management technology, including power-saving innovations like HiVERT technology, this drive delivers best-in-class power management and thermal emissions to help manufacturers meet energy compliance targets and extend drive life.

From the 'today only' page scroll down till you find this product then click the BUY button - do NOT click the link for the item as it will add to your basket at the default higher price, not the today only price. To get the free shipping you must click through from either AV or Hexus forums using their special link then log-in at Scan.

Ditto. Running for a year without any issues, as long as it's not a grey import with limited warranty well worth a punt at that price.

Not a bad price, think I'll wait out for an F3 deal personally but I'm a power user so yeah, go for this unless you consider yourself a power user.

power user lol. hitachi drives I think together with WD are in my opinion the best drives on the market today.

There were issues with IBM/Hitachi drives back in 2001, but they are excellent now.

All my drives and I have many are hitachi 7k2000B.

Not one dead drive where as I had 3 samsung f1's die a couple of years ago.

Interesting product. Anyone know how this compares to the Deskstar 7K1000? As these seem cheaper, is it just power management??
