Listed at £44.99 need to use code 10CEA to get price. Voted hot

Ps. Comet site says code 10CEA gives 10% off all data storage so there are maybe some others worth looking at too.

"This is a great buy. Runs perfectly with a great load of space. Also the hard drive in the case is a Samsung hard drive, so its a good trusted brand. The hard drive runs at 38 mb/s read and 36mb/s write, So its good for storage."
Pros: great for storage, great value for money, trusted brand inside, large size
Cons: may be slow for running programs
Good review.

can this be used for ps3 ?
#8
I am assuming that this is powered by a 240v adaptor.
Anyone know if USB data lead is supplied with it?

can this be used for ps3 ?

Not internally as a replacement for your HDD.
The PS3 uses a 2.5" drive which is used in laptops. 3.5" drives are used in PC's.

good spot op and its free delv.

Great price - just reserved for pickup later today. I've been after a good price on a 1TB disk for a while. Thanks.

(Worth noting that from what I can see this has a separate power supply and isn't USB powered. Not a biggie for me, but it might be important for some people!)

Its a 3.5" drive so does need to be plugged in. TBH I dont think that we will see 1Tb 2.5" USB powered drives at this price for a while yet.

@Thermal Rider, the last one I bought had all the required leads so you should be fine ;)
#16
Will this work with Windows 7 as i have been looking & doesn't seem to list it!!!!!
#17
yea it will work with 7
#18
Is this a USB 3.0 or USB 2.0?

Thanks
#19
Nice price, very tempted here. Deffo a Samsung drive?
#20
Pretty certain its USB2.
#21
looks good thanks
#22
Swissknife wouldnt work with my last drive - I think it was a windows 7 error - if you get this Maxtor Blast is also very good at reformat to FAT32....

I think this is the cheapest 1Tb I have seen - HOT...
#23

Now you've explained that, it makes total sense that 3.5" drives would require more power than 2.5". Not sure why I hadn't figured it out before! Cheers.

NP. I prefer 2.5" as its easier for the WDLive box, but at this price I'll use it as a second storage only drive.

Ordered for collection - heat added.
How does the quidco work on collections at Comet? Went via the website etc but do i need to "validate" the purchase as at PCWorld, do i need to make sure they put it through with the reservation number?
#30
so does this require a power cable to use it?
#31
Yes you do, no 3.5" are powered via USB AFAIK ;)

I think he said "as at PC World" which bearing in mind that they are in the same group is a reasonable question.... but I dont know the answer.

It comes with power adaptor + USB lead. It's USB2. Posted before twice at slightly higher prices. Been perofrming well and quiet for the last few months. Like most 3.5" drives it has no on/off switch: tie the power lead jack to the data lead jack -where the grooves are- with the little wire that binds the cables in packaging and take if off to shut down. Best non-bricky 3.5" case I've seen ie: small and thin. Inside it is a Hitachi drive.
