I have the 500GB version of this HDD and it's the fastest/quietest one I've had yet.
I also have this exact RAM with my i5 2500k. I know it doesn't mean a huge amount but my RAM gets maximum score for memory in windows 7 (7.9/7.9).

Definitely a good price if you need both, I'd highly reccomend both!

I haven't managed to get 7.9 out of this RAM yet :(
Wonder if I am being held back by LGA 1156 or need to invest even more time tweaking my bios.

My 1tb has the 'chirpy squeak' but the 500gb is silent.

is this ram good

*EDIT
I bought this package, from reviews the hard drive and RAM are supposed to be really good.
Glad I didn't miss out on this offer

Sandybridge is a huge improvement over previous generation. I haven't overclocked the RAM at all (only the CPU), so I guess the memory controller would make quite the difference. The only catch with Sandybridge is it doesn't do too well with high voltage RAM (apparently 1.65v RAM is the absolute max the new memory controllers can handle, any fluctuations above the 1.65 could shorten the life of the CPU), this being the main reason I got this with my i5.

Never noticed that with mine. I'll listen out for it next time I boot up, though I'm using mine as a boot drive until I can afford an SSD so I doubt I'd notice the chirpy squeak (the GPU fan goes turbo for a second when I first turn on my PC so I guess that'd mask the sound if it was there... lol)

Does this RAM work with i7 CPU. The spec on scan mentions i3 and i5 but not i7?

It will be compatible, however if you are on socket LGA 1336 you would be better buying a matching set of three as it is tri-channel.

thanks, which processors are 1336? Or did you mean 1366 or are they the same thing?

Sorry. Yes I mean't LGA 1366 i7 (9xx series).
What RAM do you have in your system at the moment?

It's only a minor complaint as I only hear the chirpy squeak when it wakes up to access my media.
I use an SSD (Vertex 120gb) for my OS and programs. The 1tb is noisier than the 500gb though.

I was planning on building a sandy brige i7 2600k system when the new mother boards come out in april, or wait til there a bit cheaper. But they dont need 3 channel do they? Its just the i7 9xx?

Thanks! its something id overlooked so thanks for making me think!
