1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 SATA II 300 7200rpm 32MB Cache Hard Disk Drive oem

The Samsung Spinpoint F1 is the first three-disk hard drive delivering a whopping 1TB of capacity along with sophisticated recording technology. With its compact, lightweight package and advanced design, the F1 drive offers many advantages for high-density applications compared to using two 500GB drives or a four- or five-disk solution. Compared to a five-disk 1TB solution, the F1 Series consumes 13-16% less power and provides up to 20% faster performance.
This 3Gbps SATA drive has a maximum of 334GB of formatted capacity per disk while also featuring Samsung's industry-leading NoiseGuardTM and SilentSeekTM‚ technologies to eliminate acoustic noise. The Spinpoint F1 utilizes Samsung-developed perpendicular recording technology, which helps the drive set new records in both areal density and platter capacity.
Servers, high-end desktops, RAID systems and DVRs are among the applications well suited to the Spinpoint F1 drive. The drive is available with desktop PC- or RAID-level reliability. Mean time between failure for RAID reliability is up to 1.2 million hours. A rotational vibration sensor enables the drive to operate more efficiently in a RAID environment.
For consumer applications, a power-saving code reduces power consumption while AV-optimized firmware cuts time delays during AV data recording. In general, the Samsung drive offers a superior combination of density, recording quality and reliability.

Probably the best consumer level drive available. Quiet, fast and reliable. Thanks to Gormless Gordon and his band of clowns this is likely to be the best price that you will see for a while. A couple of months ago I was buying these sub £70.

Samsung ES tool

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/ES_Tool.html
Preliminary

ES Tool (The Drive Diagnostic Utility) is made with the aim of testing a Samsung hard disk drive while it is installed inside a PC, regardless of the status of user's operating system. In fact of the drives returned to Samsung, a large percentage are NTF("No Trouble Found") after testing. So it is strongly recommended to test the drive if it is truly defective by a few fundamental troubleshooting of ES Tool first, to avoid user's unnecessary effort and inconvenience of replacing a good drive.
H&R added - great deal... If I hadn't just bought a 1tb Samsung for £90, i'd be all over this.

Cant resist. I'm gonna play HUKD Hard Drive Bingo. Lets see if any of these come up.

Don't go anywhere near Aria, you'll seriously regret it.

If you have problems with any items they really don't want to know.

I know Ebuyer had problems in the past, but I'd gladly stick to Ebuyer now. Aria are a sham outfit. All very well if there ar no problems, but try returning something as faulty / broken and they really don't want to know. Buyer beware.

Well, They want £6.95 just to send a CPU, And I put a Computer together last year for a tad under £500 and I did save a few quid, But £22 for delivery was in my book, taking liberties.

For these that have the free P&P deal with Scan its available for £75.31 here --->

If you don`t have the deal check out Hexus.net or search on here for the details.

They don't allow to order more than one in single order, I'm after 4 drives for a RAID 5 config.

I fully agree with you, had the same experience with them.

Can't find the one for £7.70:whistling:

Aria are really good :)

The postage cost depends on price of item due to Aria having to purchase postage insurance.
#18
I bought one of these from Aria a few weeks ago when it was on Special at £70 - by the time you've paid their postage it's not really that 'special' a deal.

When it arrived it looked like it had been used and it had - it came with two partitions (although no data was on it) - I used to shop with Aria a few years ago and was outraged at their 25% restocking charge for returns so decided I would shop elsewhere. When I saw the offer I thought I'd give them another go but was let down by them again.

My advice is this - shop elsewhere.

I have bought from Aria in the past but also avoid them now due to the postal charges & returns. I had a monitor delivered for a friend, it turned up broken & I had to pay £25 to return it. Ordered some sticks of RAM, a few turned up faulty so I put a pencil dot on the stickers & sent them back, they sent me the same sticks back again.
These were not sticks of RAM for one PC, I tried them in multiple boards & they didn't work, I just gave up in the end as I was paying for postage to them & they were charging me to send them back.
Also why do they insist on showing prices without VAT ?

I tend to just use Scan now, free delivery, good prices, quick returns.

I also remember when they boasted 'cheapest 32" LCD in the UK' & then charged a £70 delivery fee which put it to the same price as everywhere else.

Aria suck big time - voted hot so more people get to read what a bunch of cowboys they are.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am going to order with ebuyer!

Regardless of where you buy it, the F1 is a great drive. I have two in my machine and they're fast, quiet and power down and resume easily.

And Me. Bought a power supply from them at the end of last year that made loud buzzing noises and smelled very strange when switched on.

I did eventually get a refund on the unit but they deny that it was faulty and refuse to refund postage either way.

:x

I work nearby, so you can collect from the counter. They can be a bit funny with collection on special deals, but otherwise, I've not ordered online, so couldn't comment.

I agree, and they also load their postage cost on specials, for that reason I no longer buy from them. But they are an OK company, and have been around for sometime.
#27
The drive itself is good - I bought one on a previous deal (got mine from ebuyer). Performance, quietness and price are all about the best I've seen. Can't comment on the seller as I've no experience, but if you don't trust them, most of the usual suspects sell this drive for a decent price.
#28
The Aria advert page of special deals makes a point that you have to pay the postage and can't collect them, implying that profit is in the postage.

For what it's worth, and not wanting to start another debate, here's a quote from the Scan info on the 1TB F1,
"We are NOT that much more expensive, but what we have is Genuine Samsung NEW stock with full official 3 year direct warranty cover!
Remember ALL the Hard Drive brands we sell are official 3 or 5 years Maximum Warranty. Peace of Mind!
Many of our competitors sell Grey/imported or system integrator products with only 1 years warranty so they can achieve a lower price - but just look at what your missing out on !"
They currently have the 1TB F1 on their Today Only (but all weekend!) offer page @ £75.31 inc VAT but +p&p, and the
1TB F2 EcoGreen @ £81.64 also inc VAT but +p&p.

You forgot

What do I need to connect my PS3 to this
Does this do 1080p?
What's a hard drive?
Will this fit in my 386?

and so on and so forth. Good try though :p

Got to say that I love these 1TB Spinpoint F1's - fast, quiet, cheap, cool - they tick all the right boxes. I previously had the 500GB versions (shipped as standard in my Dell Vostro 400 and also in a Freecom Classic external USB drive I bought), which were fine if not particularly fast and not as quiet as the 1TB version.

The reviews were so good on the 1TB model, I bought two from Ebuyer at the exact point where they had both free postage and the lowest price (came to 150.01 quid for the two) - I was surprised to see the drive actually increase in price after I got mine. Pretty rare that - I guess demand is outstripping supply - 99 times out of a 100, when a hard drive changes its price after you've bought it, it's in the downwards direction.

If you can get these drives at a sub-80 quid price, then jump on them - they're the best thing since sliced bread, IMHO. The 116 Mbytes/sec read speed has cut my boot time by 5 seconds and massively speeded up my file compressing/decompressing/copying. If you get one, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it!

hi i had the 500GB till now and so far you can tell its a new drive great item for the money
