where? i checked the new scan deals and it didn't show up :S!

I could be wrong, but I could swear I looked at the same drive on offer here earlier on a one day deal.... or my memory is playing tricks! Been a long day, so thats entirely possible!

i have orderd this from scan before and the 1st one the sent me was so noisy all the time and is really bad on boot up of windows, so i sent it back and orderd another one, and it had the exact same problem, i know this hd is a brilliant hd for the price but just be wary of getting it from scan as there packaging for this was really bad, a small bit of bubble wrap and placed in a delivery bag the first time, and the second time i bought a few extra items to bulk the delivery up and it was wrapped in bubble wrap inbetwen a cake box of dvds and placed in a box. i am now sending this second one back and purchasing it from another supllier.

Cold. There's a 1TB drive posted every day, and they're always this price, give or take a fiver.

Really? give or take a fiver? If you said give or take 50p then fair enough. Five quid is a more than worthwhile saving.

Give or take a fiver, I said - as in, this is the usual price, sometimes can be cheaper, other times more expensive, and in its current state is by no means a special deal.

Personally, I wish people would stop spamming the site with these normal-price harddrive non-deals.

The 2TB I bought from Scan was, the same drive from Novatech wasn't.

Im not bashing Scan just these hdd's i have had a problem with, i buy lots of stuff from them and on the whole there good but not with these import hdd's

Great price for a great drive. Admittedly I found the 500gb model was silent, but I hear this spin up occasionally.
#16
great drive, be aware it's spin up is very noticable (less so with power saving off) and £40 is a common price, if anything it will drop. still one of the best on market in terms of speed and price.

scan is pretty much my favorite retailer, free delivery with a quick forum signup and you will get it under 2 days. ordered one of these for similar price a few weeks ago and received 2 days later in plastic blister pack well wrapped in bubblewrap - had HD's from ebuyer in larger cardboard boxes packed with bubblewrap but i found scans plenty adequate . gotta note scans insallation insurance policy, for a small amount (about 50p on a drive like this) you can guarantee they will replace it even if you somehow screw up installing it - not worth it on a HD (you are a 'tard if you fail on HD's plus you can always claim it was dead on arrival) but still handy for more important system stuff

Yes, that's right, input the serial number, do let us know if it's an import. Most of the Scan F3s now are from outside the EU they told me and have only a Scan warranty. I bought one recently from them and was disappointed there was no Samsung warranty on it (only found out after purchase). Just hoping it doesn't have any problems as otherwise with Scan they reserve the right in their t and cs to charge you for checking it and no doubt picking it up too. Would have much preferred a Samsung warranty.

Awesome deal

Scan must have tons of these in their warehouse as this deal comes up almost two or three times a week.
Still a good price though. Bought 2 a few weeks ago when they were doing a 2 drives deal for around £78.

just checked the samsung warranty with this drive and it turns out that it had no warranty with samsung :(! phoned scan and they said that there is a 3 year warranty with them. is that good enough? or should i just return the hard drive?

scan have a very poor reputation for returns around the net, something you might want to keep in mind

ye i was kinda worried about that :(! i have looked elsewhere and considered amazon, but their price has jumped from £40.88 to £44.99 just today :O! aria also do their warranty only and not directly with samsung. i think i will try the scan warranty, and if anything goes wrong and they fail to fix the problem, they will be losing a valuable customer!
