The poster does have a point. Then the same would apply to deals where supermarkets offer 'local promos'. Can the mods clarify this - that is, when is a deal hot (aside from the voting)?

Can we not just use common sense. If the product is available cheaper than else where, and is available to purchase then its a good deal.

Honestly who is gonna sit down and work out a formula on what defines a good deal. Do you find out what the population of a town that has an 'only instore' offer and then divide it by the number of members of HUKD and if its above x% then its a good deal worthy of posting?

So, if my corner shop sells mars bars for 5p than this is a "..deal anarchy for the masses..":whistling:

I'm only raising a valid point as posted by another forum member...
#13
This is a grey area - I mean if someone puts a post up saying "10% off everything in Tesco, but only if you or your family work there" then actually it's pretty unfair to expect anyone to vote it hot.
#14
Cold too. And for the same reaons as the poster above.
#15
Voted hot to spite the miseryguts cold voters who don't have a Makro card. Not everyone lives close enough to benefit from instore Morrisons/Tesco/Sainsbury/Home Bargains/Poundland deals, but that wouldn't justify their voting cold, either.

Deserves a hot just for finding something in Makro that didn't cost more than the average High Street price.
#16
Voted cold purely due to the makro card rubbish , yes i am being a ******* i know.
#17
Voted hot, have a Makro card and this is a stellar deal.

Those that vote cold in my opinion are ridiculous, would the same people vote cold on say a deal posted from Home Bargains because the store isn't in their area of the country?

A deals a deal if its cheap, benefits others, whether 100% of people or 1%
#18
Voted hot to counter-act those that voted it cold for no other reason than they haven't got access to it........

As most people would vote cold (using the "I haven't got a card rule") then those that do would never find out about it !!!!!!!!!

thats really not the point....

this isnt really a competition, and its not "cheating" if you have a makro card
#20
No its not but Makro is supposedly only open to business wereas nearly everyother deal is open to the public and is down to stock or store.
#21
I suggest that all those that are voting this cold start a forum and get a petition going for the mods to review that Makro be removed from HUKD...which I personally feel would be ridiculous if the Wholesaler was
#22
Hot!
coz I have a card :p
Lots of people miss out on hot deals e.g the WH smith console for silly prices recently, none in any stores near me, dosnt mean its NOT a HOT deal!
You lot moaning and voting cold........Deal with it!:whistling::giggle: Poop Happens!
#23
u need to add 15% VAT to this!
#24
When there is deals like this and I can't get them I just don't vote
#25
think i might have to vote all online deals cold too, because my mother in law hasnt got a computer and so isnt a member of that "elite" club. or I could be typing through my &^%&^se!!!

Try reading again, VAT has been added in the OP price.

So some people's views are the same as on the free tea and coffee at subway for emergency services deal because not everyone is in the same type of employment and thus might not qualify for the offer?

Thats careerist!! :-D
#29
what about people who live in ireland here. we dont have morrisons but you dont see me voting cold for every thread regarding things for it people.

get a grip, vote hot if its a good deal, cold if its not a good deal. not cold just cause you cant get it!

I'm not being miserable whoever said that. I didn't vote either way.

But the free tea and coffee thing is a bit far - for instance Met Police get some free tube and bus journeys but I wouldn't recommend that as a deal either!
#31
regardless of whether its hot or cold, is the thing anybloodygood?
#32
Fight ...fight.....fight.....

Not near makros....don't have a card......didn't vote.
#33
Voted Hot, I went for this HD the last time it was on here, great piece of kit, IMHO.
#34
...erm, somewhat back on topic - can anyone vouch for the quality of verbatim drives. I know they're big in the CD DVD R market, never seen an HD though?

PS - we're back to the costco arguments - yawn. Come one, surely if a store is well known enough, and enough people can benefit from seeing a deal that may be of use to them then that's a good deal???

They only design the thing. Everything else is sourced from other places. The hdd is probably a wd or a seagate.
#36
It's not exaclty difficult to get a Makro card. Use your current employer, or if you do not work, just print out a letter head and that is usually enough to get a card. Sometimes they ask for bills etc, just say you are self emplyed and work from home.

£54.99 from robert dyas in store or on web site.(i work for robert dyas).
#38
There are numerous deals on this site open to people in different parts of the country and vote them hot. There is a DVD music shop call Fobb or something like that. None here in East Anglia. Then B&M seem to have lots of offers. None in East Anglia. I couldn't even get those tinned sausages in Lard>
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/429945/westlers-sausages-in-lard-9p-b-m/

But they still have hot offers and people who can get them can enjoy them. If only the people able to get them voted hot then, many would not ever get hot. Also if we know what offers are about it often means the price of the other retailers will reduce to this price soon, so you can hold of buying if it isn't urgent and save some money later if it does come down in price.
