The Verbatim USB 3.0 desktop hard drive features high performance storage using a USB 3.0 “Super Speed” interface. USB 3.0 offers up to 10 times faster data transfer rates than USB 2.0 (based on USB bus speed) providing ultra-fast data transfer on the go.

Wow, USB3 interfaces already at this price. How much faster actually are they? Good to see them this cheap already, not *that* much more than a USB 2.0 hard drive of this capacity

USB 3.0 is very advanced technology - For this price considering specification and size of HDD you can't go wrong. Also i would much rather buy two of these than the 2TB HDD, just in case of failure which has started to become almost common these days regardless of brand.

Wouldn't say failiure is "almost common" it's just more hard drives are sold as time goes on, you lot here wouldn't dream of buying an "external hard drive" 5 years ago...well most of you, let alone a internal one. Internet forums are more popular too.

So it's impossible to say that with any certainty at all.

These deals are looking good but think I will wait a couple more months for a USB 3.0 (let some reviews filter in and test driving completed) though my PC has been ready for it for the last few months.

So how fast is USB 3.0?
What's the real world mb/s?

Around 400MB a second.

No single hard drive\SSD will saturate it for a good while.

...If your going to goto the expense of getting a USB3.0 enclosure\card you might as well put a decent fast drive in it. I don't think this though, it's only got an 8mb cache which although doesn't dictate the drive speed specifically, it does mean it's going to be a low end drive inside....and that does dictate it. With such potential speed, you're better off buying a seperate drive and card\enclosure....imo. No point being half arsed about it because at the end of the day you might as well just go the eSATA route, enclosures for that are cheap as chips and most modern computers made in last couple of years have at least 1 eSATA port.

All well and good USB 3.0 but it means nothing if you are plugging it into a USB 2.0 Port on your PC/notebook.

Get yourself a add in card that has usb3 there about £25 for a laptop and will be a good investment.

nice price for a 1TB usb3 drive!! im gonna go the DIY route with usb3, i much prefer buying an enclosure then handpicking a HDD (2.5") to go in it. at least that way its more futureproof if u fancy upgrading the HDD size or upgrading to a faster one! still hot though
