Better to have the correct price obove the red box. Why two prices?

There was a !tb hard drive on offer for £58 about a week ago but I can't find it now. Damn stupid search on HotUK.

The two prices are just a bad habbit, I suppose it only makes sense to have 2 when the deal can be bought instore and online.

I'd like to see the link to that £58 drive!

Does any one know if you can use this without the included a/c adaptor or do you need to use it before transfering data to/from the hard-drive?

You need to use the adapter.

dimensions are 12.5 cm x 20.4 cm x 3.6 cm and not 7.9 X 12.4 X 1.8 as in the picture below the specifications. Its a 3.5" drive so couldnt be that small.
#16
no no, hes on about the 1tb WD external drive from comet and some people said they could get it price matched with PC world for 110% of the price which made it about £58
#17
Still some 1TB WD MyBook available IN STORE in Comet - Carlisle had some the other day.
#18
dcx_badass
Nah you don't need it, they just put it in the box so it makes the box a bit heavier. :whistling:

pmsl

it's a standard 3.5 inch drive, so needs power, a 2.5 (laptop style) doesn't :whistling:

Was trying to establish what drive was in this, the WD site says it's <8.9ms which would hopefully mean it's quite quick but not sure if it's 16 or 32mb Cache.
3 listed here are all 32mb - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/products/a968x1y0z1p0s0n0m115
I'm guessing - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?WD-10EADS

a) Xvids are teh eeleegulz

b) the drive must be formatted in FAT32 for the PS3 to recognise it.

now showing as having a SUPER delivery?

Now Available: £2.34 inc VAT Super Saver Delivery

great AFTER i have paid for it. doh.
#25
I bought one of these recently from aria just for the disc inside. The case is very small and neat though. The drive is a Western Digital Green series I think a WD10EAVS but I cant check this now. I think it has an 8MB cache. These drives run very quiet and cool. I did a backup onto one that took several hours and it was barely tepid.

Probably none of them. As just-me says the WD10EAVS is a possiblilty and a good drive. I couldn't see the drive speed in the docs so it could even be one of the old 4 platter 5,400 rpm ones.

It doesn't matter if it's in a an enclosure; the USB2 connection will limit the speed.
#28
Good find! Just purchased mine.

If this is in FAT32 then i can hook it upto my dvd player (phillips dvp5980) and which directly off there.

I have this drive. Got it from PC World for a little bit less than this. Quiet, doesn't get too hot. Only real risk area anecdotally is from the power pack which isn't the most robust looking, but at least it does not have a proprietary connector unlike some external hard drives, so any 12V 1.5A adapter will do.

My fourth external WD and none has given me problems so far, although I did have one WD laptop drive that started returning SMART failures.

A 1TB external drive for the price of an internal. Of course it's hot.
#36
Scrorching, just ordered two of em'

Been hanging on hoping for a nice deal on an external HD ever since the similarly priced1tb western digital HD from Comet eluded me.

I almost ordered/bought 2x 500GB Buffalo drives this Sunday afternoon, which would have cost me £100 with postage, but for an extra £35 I get 2x 1TB drives instead!!

:-D

Yes, you would need to reformat it to fat32 if it wasnt already.
#38
Thats one hell-of-a tasty looking apple  . I like the fairly small dimensions of this drive
#39
****ing sweet!!!
This is fairly high on my 'stuff I need to get at some point' list and is so tempting just to get it anyway.
Not supposed to be spending money on such things but aaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh...............WANT!!!!!
