You can always rely on someone trotting out this nonsense on every single 2.5" external hard drive deal - it's even more annoying than the Onkyo/Sony nonsense :)

can get 640gb usb2 for 42ish at times on scan so 13quid premium for availability and usb3
#11
surely its just the casing that is usb 3.0?
#12
voted hot..
#13
Yes its the casing thats 3.0 its only a port. The HDD inside will likely be SATA II. Good deal especially for a self powered one.

Yeah, it would also be worth finding out what make the HDD is and taking that into consideration, good price tho.

#17
If they haven't sold out at your local store they will still be for sale at this price tomorrow.

1TB drives have been £59, the buffalo deal a week or so ago was a hot deal. Still only usb 2 though and transferring stuff onto it is slow!

even so i dont have usb3 or esata, so it makes no differnce. However the cheapo usb 3 cases on ebay are around £13 anyway, so its probably only a good deal if you are transferring 30gb+ of data on a day to day basis. Otherwise the usb2 1TB ones are cheaper per GB (plus you can stick them in a esata case - which is much cheaper)

good price voted hot

Hot! I might just have to get one. Fed up with my old 2.5, 160GB drive and it's lack of power.

I've noticed in other threads he gives the most pathetic reasons to vote cold. He voted a camera deal cold because OTHER cameras shake when you zoom in... how stupid a reason is that?

Yep, must be dodgy if it's from Aldi, I mean it's only a 1Tb portable USB3 drive with a 3 year no quibble warranty for £55 (_;)

quietly waits for 'Billy Congo' to post a better deal ..........

What are you on about? I don't see any deal for 1TB usb 3 driver for £55 from aldi?

(Aldi get their stuff from Tevion which is german - so it's going to be decent quality anyway.)
