Rubbish paint. Using the white is like trying to paint a wall with milk. Avoid.

Didn't see the white there, just the colours including kitchen and bathroom specific paints. I have used these before with no problems and at this price really cant go wrong IMO.

I like a good bargain but unfortunately I wouldnt recommend wilkinson paint, I have bought it in the past and was awful had to do so many coats it would have been cheaper to just buy dulux :(

good price just shame about the brand

What colours? Are they on the website?

How much is 2.5L of Dulux though?

Dont think they are on website.......at that price anyway. Colours ranged from Diva Pink ( which I bought for my daughters room) to Sesame Seed (yellowish) to a peachy colour but I cant remember all the names sorry. Think the dulux is about 15 quid?

I paid £7 a couple of weeks ago for a couple of tins of kitchen paint (they should be £14), which i thought was a bargain then! Covered in one coat and looks great, voted hot!

Im a painter and decorator and on occasions when the customer has bought the paint themselves and show me a tin of wilko's own generally speaking my heart sinks. Then im always plesently surprised by how well it covers.

My experience with cheap paint was not good. I bought some cheap stuff from Woolworths ages ago and after SIX coats you could still see the colour underneath.
#9
£3.97 for 5 litres of white yes its a bit tacky to put on but found it ok and pleasantly surprised that one coat was enough
#10
Cheap paint is a false economy - if a gloss it will lose it's gloss much more quickly than the regular paints like duluxe for example
#11
bought over a dozen tines of wilkos paint couple of years ago to paint a house id just bought, as said before, avoid, better off with other budget brands or branded paints.
#12
never had a prob with wilkos paint heat added :)
#13
I can't comment on the coverage, but the smell is so strong, much more so than dulux. Or at least it used to be, I haven't used wilko's paint for a long time now thankfully! Alright for a touch up I guess.

I used Wilko own brand to paint hall and kitchen a few months back, used white on ceiling. There is absolutely nothing wrong with their paints. However, they do a cheapo version of their paints which is perhaps what you used?

fantastic deal, thankyou very much.

I have bought two tins in this sail and I must admit I was very surprised by the quality of the paint, Just one coat on both walls! Hot

Their door paint is equally as bad, it was supposed to go on anything (metal/wood/pvc), but completely peeled off after day 1. Will have to do it again now.

Your suprised every time? Perhaps you should just think back to the first time you used it!

Wilko paint made is by Dulux nothing wrong with smell or coverage they have a money back guarantee is dissatisfied with any of their products unlike Crown or Dulux
#20
I'm glad there are so many people who think this paint is rubbish, Wilkinsons already cheap own brand paint will get even cheaper!!

Dulux may give slightly better coverage but the last tin I bought was on special offer of £18 for 1.5L I still needed two coats of Dulux the same as the other walls painted with wilko paint.

Nice find OP!

i'll be going for a look tomorrow, used wilko paint including dark colours and never had a problem, didn't find coverage any different than the dulux.
#22
Wilko paint is not made by Dulux, its made by Kalon
#23
It used to be made by Leyland 2/3 years ago (our next door neighbour was a manager there). We've used it and it's great. Personally I think it coats far better than Dulux - often just 1 coat will do whereas Dulux would take 2 coats and has less smell. We've just finished Living & dining room & started 1 wall with Dulux (v similar if not identical colour) - which would have easily needed 2 coats. Was gobsmacked when 1 coat of Wilkos own was perfect. Ditched the Dulux! I'm going on the ones pictured NOT the value ones.

My heart sinks when they show me Linda Barker wallpaper!!! I think ' it's time to get the border paste out' lol

no complaints here with wilko paint, and I am a paint snob. Will never buy Homebase again :p
#27
I use wilko paint all the time, never had a problem and always decide to decorate when they have a paint offer too. Guess my days off this week are now planned :'(
#28
Is this nationawide then? Anyone else found this in their stores before I rush out?
#29
thanks i need to do the spare room this coming month!
#30
I used some last week for the skirting in my sons room and it went on nice and easy with a good finish
#31
None in my local store, just looked round today the cheapest was reduced to £7.50 for a coloured emulsion and then only a couple of different colours to choose from......:(

Kalon is a major paint manufacturer and owns the Leyland, Johnstones and Manders ranges (amongst others) as well as making many of the 'own label' brands. Nothing wrong with the quality - prices can vary according to brand and source. Leyland cheaper than Johnstones equivalents because the latter is marketed as a superior/professional product (which is not really true).
#33
Not bad, but white isn't the best.

If you're prepared to apply several coats of paint, then this may be the deal for you. Having spent last weekend helping out a member of my family with the wilkinson paint they purchased, I would NEVER buy Wilkinsons paint. That said, it did not leave an awful smell like some brands can. Mixed reviews I guess, fair price; you get what you pay for...
