Fed up with Magnolia everywhere? then these could be just what you're looking for!

Normally, you only ever see deals on white or magnolia emulsion paint, but here we have a 2.5ltr tub of One Coat emulsion paint for only £4.99 in a range of very bright colours, which I got from the Aylesbury QD Store, but was told it's a nationwide deal whilst stocks last.

I was looking for a bright pink for a feature wall in our bedroom, which was one of the choices, a Hot Pink/Fuschia colour. The colour choices, looked very similar to Wilkinsons colour blast range, all obviously bold colours, and although you'd probably not want to do a whole room with it, they are good for contrasting with a lighter shade (Just a add a bit of white!), or for feature walls.Coverage was good, just take the time to stir the paint fully before using, and use a decent roller set. It's a very low VOC odour paint, important as even some emulsions have strong smells because of the fungicide chemicals they add (I know some of Crown's paints, have had some problems in this area recently, giving off a nice gas smell for weeks, even months!)

Colour choices not for everyone, and shame I can't find a picture, but as I say, take a look at Wilko's site for the colour blast range, you'll get an idea.

QD usually have good offers on paint, even big brand stuff, but usually only in limited colour choices, as they obviously buy job lots, so this makes a change.Got a large tin of Hammerite smooth a while back for painting a metal verranda, and that was only £3.99! bargain.Anyway, hopefully this deal will be of use to someone, it was to me, as I'm currently decorating our house, which explains my absence from HUKD!

TIP: don't buy your brushes or rollers in QD, they only seem to sell the cheapo types, which ultimately will result in a poor finish and frustration, as bristles and fluff from the roller gets stuck all over your nicely painted wall.Actually, Wilko's had a set of decent brushes and roller sets (not the suregrip range) which were good value, £6.99 for a brush set,

Been a decorator for over 20 yrs and still found no such product as one coat! Save your money and buy a quality paint!

I would quite agree, I've also done decorating as part of being a builder until a few years ago, and most one coat paints, are anything but, especially coloured emulsions.I gave this a try, only because it was just the right colour, and was only for a feature wall, having wall papered the rest, but I was very suprised that it gave really good coverage, and yes literally one coat. It's consistency was very good, although it needed a very thorough stir, so been in store for a while, and obviously it's one coat results will depend on what and how you use this paint, so decent preperation, rollers and brushes, and not overbrushing/rolling, are every bit as important as the quality of paint, if you want a really good finish.

Just as an update these are Excell brand trade paints, and are mid sheen, so probably not good for those with imperfect walls, where a matt finish is better.I would say that these were probably bankcrupt stock, which they've bought as a job lot, but at only £4.99, they're a cheap way of adding a bit of colour to a room.
