Heat. Forgot to pick these up on my shop earlier. Your post just reminded me. So back out I go.

When you get potatoes, remove them from the plastic bag (if they come in a plastic bag) and make sure you check them over and remove any "eyes" they have. Then either put them into a tub lined with newspaper and place newspaper over the top or put them in one of those old-fashioned cloth potato sacks and store them in a dark and dry place. If you're not going to use them for a while, check them intermittently for "eyes" and remove them when you see them. They'll last for ages then.

I assume that if you have a 12.5kg paper sack of them that is left in a dark garage then conditions are not too bad ???

Presumably this is a store specific deal ???
Heat added anyway as still a cracking price.

Should be ok - but I'd still check them every few weeks for soft spots and "eyes". We buy the 12.5kg unwashed ones from Morrisons when they're £2 and store them for months - we've no bother with them. We've also bought some of these in Tesco today - you'd be mad not to! :D

I think we are going to see a pattern of Tesco offering INSANE deals in a bid to entice customers back, however hopefully people can see through the tricks and know that as soon as Tesco has the market share again they will simply raise prices to food-bank busting levels!

Potatoes make great store detectives. Always keeping their eyes peeled.

No...it's not that at all. They're store specific deals. Produce managers will mark them down accordingly as they are short dated Christmas stock that they have too much of and need to get rid of it or it'll end up in the bin.

The spuds were 20p for 2.5 kg today in Pool, but the sprouts were 1p for a pack!
