Can these easily be returned if they are unsuitable (e.g. uncomfortable?)

mumbojumbo
I think if you decide you don't like them then M&S may charge you for the cost of collection (up to £100).

I think that the cost will be higher for very large items, like beds, sofas etc....for 2 chairs it should be a lot less. Best ring the number to check first before panicking.

nice one just got 8 chairs and combined it with the melbac walnut table and a walnut console table for £380 delivered - bargain
#5
THANKS OP - just what we were looking for - ordered three pairs.

We got azn Oakvale table and FOUR leather (ish) chairs from B&M for £120 which is normally about £180 elsewhere.

Be warned ....

M&S furniture have a 7 day return policy for furniture. I got stung by this as I was ill when the stuff was delivered and missed the deadline. They're VERY strict about it and very rude when I complained to customer services that the rule was not well advertised on their webpage!!

oh, and I was told that the £100 collection fee is charged regardless of what you order. Very kind!!

It doesn't seem to say anywhere that you can't just return furniture to a M&S store. It's not on the list of exceptions.

Yes maybe, but it is very inferior quality...had it before and the veneer starts to discolour and the chairs are light as a feather...like they say...you get what you pay for!!

I have just telephone customer service who verified that if the item is faulty, you can have it collected within 90 days and they will investigate the fault and either replace or refund. If its a simple case of you have changed your mind....then you will be charged £100 for them to pick it up. You CAN'T arrange your own courier and you CAN'T return it to any store. The lady on the phone agreed with me regarding how steep the £100 was but says it company policy as its a third party who arrange deliveries and collections. So I have cancelled mine as I dont fancy paying £100 to return them if they are no good!! Bad on M&S for this extortionate rate!!!!!!!!

I can confirm this. I checked too a while ago about their returns policy.

However, I can also confirm the chairs are quite comfortable. Some of our friends have these for dining chairs. You can easily sit for an evening without problems on them.

real veneer. nice work marketing!

I am on the lookout for a solid comfortable pair of dining chairs. The legs on these seem very thin going by the pic, and the seats look thin too. Think I saw a very similar pair in John Lewis a few weeks ago, parked myself in them and wasnt that impressed (JL had them for about £140-£160 for a pair).. This is a good price for such chairs,(so heat added) but I dont think they are great dining chairs.

M&S cannot insist you use their courier.

In fact, M&S are obliged under the Distance Selling Regulations to provide you with a refund, even if you have not sent the goods back to them yet.

You have to noitfy M&S within 7 days of receiving the goods that you wish to return them for a refund, but you do not actually have to return them in 7 days.

Checkout section 3.64 in the following document giving the OFT's view on the DSRs:

OK no probs. We've had ours six months and it's still in mint condition but we dont really use it every day though.

Best check this as when I phoned, thats what customer services said to me when I asked if I could send back using my own courier....she said I could not as they use a third party and I would have to raise the issue with them, not M&S. So sounds like a bit of hassle to me. Quite disappointed with M&S.

I ordered for my neighbour as she doesnt have a computer and really likes them and will not be returning them....she will give them to her daughter. So a bargain for her!!

Notice adchesney has ordered 10?? So why is it letting some order and not others??

Err, does anyone know exactly what colour these chairs are? I thought they were dark brown, as in the photo, but then I remembered that when they were in stock, there was a little box coloured light brown which had colour swath next to it, but nothing happened when you clicked on it. That box has now disappeared.

The description doesn't help much, especially as it mentions real walnut veneers, and as far as I can see there's no wood in the chairs at all.
#23
Well it doesn't matter now! M&S have just called to say they screwed up and they don't have my chairs, can't get my chairs, and will cancel my order. Bummer!
#24
Just called me to say they have no stock and are waiting to contact the manufacturers and will call in a weeks time when they know more :?

I think we better cancel and get or money back asap as they appear to be selling something they dont even have :x
#25
Hmmm. They told ME they'd already contacted the factory and there was no possibility of more stock!
