After watching that programme on Channel 4 last night, I wonder just how much water has been pumped into them!
Having said that, it looks a good buy, so voted hot.

Hot deal.....but did anyone see Dispatches last night about cheap food and what some stores pump into their chicken...perhaps I will give it a miss :whistling:

Dam I missed the programme but saw the trailer whereby one scraggy breast was injected to make it appear two thirds bigger.

I double checked the back of pack when i bought some bags of chicken breasts in costco today.

100% chicken breast

Heat and rep for your bravery

mmmmmm water! Hot

Probably explains how the cheaper stuff when cook it in the steamer shrinks all the water comes out it lol

I know this is a bargain site, and I know this seems like a bargain, but I have tried Asda cheapo chicken before and thinnk there will be more flavour in the wrapping.

I've tried their 3 cooked chicken legs for a pound and they were disgusting and aI will not be trying this offer

seems a good deal, better than most places in price. it just depends on the amount of chicken in them. i remember on a bbc3 show they had some chicken that was nearly half water and yet could still be classed as chicken breast.

Bird's Eye Chicken £1 @ ASDA.

Poor chicken. £1 for it's breasts, I think they sell the wings for about 5p each on the deli counter?
You're talking less than £2 for the whole thing.

I would happily pay £2 and keep it as a pet.
Each day I would be tempted to brutally slaughter and devour it, but I would refrain and instead spend the days running through the long grass with it dashing by my side.

The asda smart price chicken wings are good.
Something like 2 pounds for 20odd.
Taste great when you cook with some spices.

Great, even more processed and fiddled around with food.

:-D:-D:-D

Well I was in Asda yesterday and for 4 smallish chicken breasts it was £6.74 for about 600g of chicken breast fillet. That's more than my butcher charges! Pesky Euro-zoners buying up all our meat...grrrrr.

This is a bargain, although its currently £3.99 for a 650g pack of breast fillets in Lidl.

It's not even there smart price range either! I bought 10 packs to freeze. Hoooootttt deal!

I would rather buy this from a local butcher instead of supermarkets after this programme:

Got 10 packs today - this is QUALITY chicken from a named local farm and it meets the British Farmers Assured Food Standard.

You shouldn't post about the quality of this before you see the deal with your own eyes. Equally, if you are a vegtarian don't even bother looking at the thread.

Cheap chicken is crummy and tastes disgusting - this isn't. If I had more room in the freezer I would buy even more.

Very good tv prog and it does make you think why not use a real butcher and go to real outdoor markets for your food.
All this processed stuff and injecting water into chicken breasts to make them bigger is not good for the customer.
#21
It is far easier and more common to inject water into frozen chicken and processed chicken.

You just can't really add much water to fresh chicken - that's why it is always expensive cos they can't cheapen it through dodgy means.

this is an excellent deal - half the price of Tesco Value chicken from Eastern Europe.

Also far better than buying your average ready meal with chicken - that stuff often comes from Thailand! :w00t:

Bought some today, at £1 - not well advertised on the shelf, out of normal eye line.

Smart Price is 4 breasts for arounf £4.50, so 2 breasts for a £1 is idea, and not the value brand.

Good quality chicken - in a recession i will certainly buy Chicken however it comes - family first for me, i'll worry about the Chickens more when i can afford to do so....

Nothing personal, but we do get hung up on issues that at the end of the day are driven by cost and need, and at the moment it is feeding yourselves and family on a tight budget.

When I can afford free range I will buy it..

Just watched Dispatches. Some alarming results, but the credit crunch has hit, and price is the main contributing factor these days. I'm a student, so I've voted hot!!

Stocked up with e few today.
Voted hot.

Bought these yesterday Sunday 25th Jan and they appear normal, meaning not injected with 40% water like the programme discussed found out.

Great buy.

Booths also do bags of 8 fillets for aboout £8 also small breast so doubt they are dodgy too.
