cold - prices are practically the same as normal (or even more).

Nowhere near being 2 for 1 - even when its based on the fares only
#2
yes i agree
#3
very disappointed - has anyone been able to find a fare that it actually half the price of the fare available by going through the normal booking route? (excluding taxes)
#4
Presumably you have been looking for 2 tickets..

I was able to get return flights for 3 ( 1 infant) to BKK last night at £955-00. Just found 2 returns in May for £890. That's about £180 cheaper than normal.

indeed

london to bali - 17th-30th

Normal fare for 2 people (using qatar normal booking system) = £1,411

Offer fare for 2 people (using 2 for 1 booking system) = £1,339

Saving = £72

Call the national press!!!!

(and note, yesterday, before the 'deal' started, the tickets were available for £1,339)

what a joke

What does 2-for-1 really mean to you?
As a consumer advocate, Qatar Airways seeks to give you the most clarity possible regarding our 2-for-1 Fabulous Offer. We've added a few FAQs below which will shed light on what you should know before you buy. We welcome you to Qatar Airways!

How much of a true discount am I getting with the 2-for-1 offer?
It all depends on the route which you are planning to travel, but in most cases, the true discount ranges from 10-35% off the price of buying two individual tickets.

Why is the true discount not 50%?
This is actually a "Companion Fare," which means that taxes & surcharges are applied to both the primary traveler and his or her companion. On account of this, the discount will never reach 50% per customer because of the application of taxes & fees.

What products are being offered on the 2-for-1?
Within the Economy Class cabin, Qatar Airways (like all other airlines), has numerous fare classifications that are identified by a letter of the alphabet. Each of these fare classifications carries a different fare value and different terms & conditions, such as change fees, etc. Our 2-for-1 product includes almost all fare classifications, including H, K, Q, M, L, B, and Y. However, there are two excluded classifications, including W & V. Our W and V fares are oftentimes priced lower than the fare classifications included in our 2-for-1 offer. However, in nearly all cases, you will still stand to save roughly 10-35% per customer with this 2-for-1 offer.

How can I ensure I am getting the best price for my Qatar Airways flight?
We firstly recommend that you check the 2-for-1 promotional booking engine to see what price you are able to secure. Be sure to progress through the screens until you get the total fare, including taxes & fees for both customers. Then, open a separate browser window and check the same flights on our normal booking engine found on the homepage of qatarairways.com. You will be interacting with two separate booking engines, each accessing different fare inventory. By checking both, you can be assured that you're getting the lowest online fare from Qatar Airways. This helps ensure that you obtain the very best fare.

Can I book this offer from the United States?
Yes you can. We fly from Houston, New York, and Washington, D.C. daily, and all published destinations across our network are eligible with the exception of Doha. If your final destination is Doha, the offer is not available. However, for flights between our 3 US gateways and other cities (eg. Delhi, Singapore, Dubai, etc.), you may book the 2-for-1 offer.

What other routes are not bookable for this offer?
Flights between Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo are ineligible. In addition, flights to Lagos, Nigeria are ineligible, however bookings from Lagos are eligible provided bookings are made at least 30 days prior to your departure.

Basically you get two for one on the price excluding tax. but you have to pay full tax for both tickets

For example say a ticket from london to doha and back again is £500 (£250 tax and £250 to the airline).

So if you booked return flights for two people it cost £250 + (2 x £250).

You'd save just £250 and pay a total of £750 rather than a grand.

Bit misleading and sneaky by QA but that is how it works, I think

That's what you would think - but as my example above shows, this is not the case.

Flights to Bali are £430 + £238 tax per person.

Therefore for two people, under the deal, you would expect to pay £430 + £238 +238 = £906

Instead they are charging £430 + £430 + £238 + £238 = £1,336 = con / rip-off / no deal
