Starting midnight tonight, a 2 for 1 deal on flights with Qatar Airways.

Sadly airline companion tickets and 2for1's are always limited to certain booking classes and this is no exception with only economy classes K, Q, M, L, B, and Y included, but there is still the potential for a deal there :)

Edit: As someone pointed out, taxes and fees are not for free so need to be added :(

I've updated the dates of the promotion as they are having a second attempt at running it!

They only seem to exclude a few routes, but availability might be a bit lacking.

Offer does not apply for customers wishing to travel:
Between Sao Paulo and Bueno Aires, and from Houston, New York or Washington to Doha

Melbourne is the only place they fly to in Australia too.

going to be looking for tickets to either qatar, india or bangladesh for two weeks in may so if anyone finds some deals let me know

Each class has a different price and rules regarding refunds/changes etc. So it may not be the cheapest prices that are available in the 2 for 1. If you see a flight for £500 for 1 person you may not be able to get the free flight with that fare, but maybe a slightly higher one.

"Offer applicable to fare only. Taxes & fees must be paid"

So it's still going to cost!

Yeah, I'm not convinced it's going to be such a stunning deal, but figured it might help someone :)

Where are the top destinations they fly to from London? At the moment the only stand out places are India/Abu Dhabi...

I am looking at going to Oz this year and checked out how much it would be before the sale for similar dates - so manchester - melbourne

Traveller Type Adult
Fare 482.00
Taxes 377.00
Passenger Movement Charge (AUDP) 30.00
Air Passenger Duty (GBAD) 85.00
PZSE 0.60
Passenger Service Charge (Embarkation) (ABAS) 13.30
Safety and Security or Baggage Screening Tax (WGSE) 2.50
Passenger Services Charge (WYDE) 17.60
Surcharge(YQAP) 228.00
Number of Travellers 1
Total £859.00

So the ticket costs £482 and taxes £377... so basing on 'current' prices, it would cost £482 BOGOF for ticket + 2 sets of taxes @ £377 = £754 in taxes

Total for 2 adults = £1236 (£618 each)

which is still a decent rate for a good airline but very restrictive dates, I cant imagine many people would book 2 tickets somewhere far away with less than 8 weeks to go...

I was just looking at the same thing, but I think that it's an H class fare so wouldn't be eligible.

The cheapest eligible I could find was Q class for £1044 + another set of taxes and fees = £1421 I think. Not such a stunning deal at around £710 pp, but a slight saving if you were going on Qatar anyway.

Not worth it,there is a travel agent in southhall works out more cheaper, and don't forget the tension in middle east;)

So you've been to this travel agent this morning since the deal was announced, and they can offer something cheaper on every route that Qatar offers. They must be brilliant agents, as well as fast workers.

Also remember that Manchester - Doha goes twice daily from 1st June.

May I offer my thanks to British Airways for abandoning all airports outside L*****. We are now seeing the gaps filled by decent airlines like Qatar instead, that don't use old aircraft and even older flight crew, and have a decent range of destinations.

DON'T FORGET YOU HAVE TO BOOK ON 6TH & 7TH APRIL

SO TRYING TO FIND PRICES TODAY ISN'T GOING TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE OFFER.
#26
what destinations from birmingham?
#27
Be wary of Qatar as their taxes are about £150 more than Emirates on a comparable flight
#28
Is there a break-down of the booking classes online?
#29
on the terms and conditions it states that all travel needs to be completed by 10th June, does that mean that the return journey needs to be before then? Looking for someone who wants to go away for 6-8 weeks

You'll need to make a short trip up the M6 to Manchester. From there you can fly to Doha and onwards to many Far East destinations.

They certainly aren't on the routes I've been looking at, namely MAN-HAN and MAN-SGN which Emirates don't fly to anyway, which is more relevant.

Both are excellent airlines though.

I have been a regular in and out of Abu Dhabi for a few years... noticed quite a few delayed fligts with Qatar. Don't really feel I want to recommend BA but they do tend to be cheaper, reliable but not as glamorous or stylish as the Arabian carriers.

Offer now postponed for a further 24 hours - will start on 7th April.

Due to technical problems with our booking engine provider, several airlines are currently experiencing difficulties with their online booking engines. Qatar Airways is also affected and is therefore postponing the 48-hour '2 for 1' online ticket offer for one day. The promotion will now be effective from April 7 (00:01 hrs) to April 8 (23:59hrs). Qatar Airways regrets the inconvenience, but will honour all bookings made to date for the offer.

It is currently bookable from countries that are already on the 6th April, I was looking at prices from Australia/Singapore etc and would say that the prices with the deal are about what I would normally expect to pay. So nothing to get particularly excited about.

That is the problem when they restrict the fare classes that qualify for the offer, the cheapest fare class can be less than half the cost of the cheapest one in the offer!

Same happens with travel agents that offer special companion fares and deals, usually you can just book them normally for less money.

In general it's a poor offer, but there is the possibility for someone to save a few quid on some of the routes :)

I cant even get on the bloody site to look for Melbourne
