I know it has been posted before, but nobody was ever sure if it was valid for them. Now being widely advertised for all Egg Card customers - Knocks the best part of 2p/litre off until 31st March 09

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
1. The Shell cash back offer is available on purchases of any Shell fuel made at participating Shell Service Stations in Great Britain (for the purposes of this promotion Great Britain excludes Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) from 27 October until 31 March 2009 (inclusive). Shell fuel purchases made via pay-at-pump and Shell fuel purchases made at Shell Service Stations which are operated by Sainsbury are included in the cash back offer.

2. Unless otherwise stated, the instant cash back from participating Shell retailers will appear on your account as a credit to your Egg Card at the same time as your transaction appears. The cash back will show as "INSTANT CASH BACK", which you can view in your online recent transactions and your statements. The Shell cash back offer is valid for Egg Card customers.

3. The cash back amounts you receive will be calculated on the total amount of the Shell fuel purchase. If a transaction is refunded for whatever reason, the value of the instant cash back will subsequently be deducted accordingly.

4. You will not earn instant cash back on Shell fuel purchases charged to your Account during the promotional period if:

* you are over your Credit Limit; or

* if you are not up to date with your payments; or

* either you or Egg has given notice to end your Credit Card Agreement; or

* bankruptcy proceedings have been started against you or you have been declared bankrupt; or

* your Egg Card is lost, stolen or misused by someone without your permission.

5. Egg reserves the right to withdraw, amend and add to the cash back offer at any time without notice.

6. If you have any queries regarding the Shell cash back offer please email us securely via our website. Log in to 'your accounts' and select the option to send a message. You'll need to select 'Banking' from the top right of that screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

This offer is promoted by Egg Banking plc and administered by Shell U.K. Oil Products Limited, (as agent for Shell U.K. Limited), Shell Centre, London, SE1 7NA.

Egg Banking plc does not accept any responsibility for goods and services provided by third parties under this offer.

Its 3p per litre cashback by using Shell's own credit card provided by Citi Group and 6p for the first 60 days so this is voted cold

The shell card also gives 1% cashback on every pound spent elsewhere

I think shell cashback on fuel only applies if petrol/diesel is over £1.00 per litre
#3
Do you get the usual 1% for the transaction in addition to the instant 2%?

Im still getting cashback for fuel on my Shell statements and petrol has been back below £1 for a couple of months now .......Also Shell's website is still advertising the card with the 3p and 6p cashback amounts
#5
No, you don't get 1% as well as 2%.
Personally I think the ASDA card 2p per litre using their own credit card is a better offer.

around here, Shell are usually the cheapest, and as I have an egg card anyway it comes in quite handy. I was going to cancel my egg card, but I'll keep hold of it for buying fuel until this offer finishes.....

(isn't Shell fuel 'better' than supermarket fuel? - I have heard something about that....?)
#7
Shell round here is 3p a litre dearer than anyone else?

Do you have a better card than the egg for (long-term) cashbacks ? If so, which one?

The egg is worth it for the shell and currys deals alone IMO

Thats the problem aint it such big differences between petrol station when they should all really be the same........

Near me its BP thats always at least 3p more than everyone else and Shell thats usually the first after the leading supermarket to match them

I use Amazon MC.... just found out that I only get 0.5% on that, so on the lookout for a new one...

Shell have got their act together round my way (Dartford) and are never more than 1p more than Asda or Morrisons. My car runs MUCH better on Shell and with the egg cashback it's a win-win for me

BP are always last to cut their prices so don't get my custom much these days...

I'd stick with the egg if I was you...it's a "cracking" card (groan)

My Capital One card gives 1% back on all purchases - don't know if current versions do.

Halifax also have a similar card, except that you can only draw down the cashback in £15 chunks by contacting customer services [after each anniversary I think ]

Egg looks a better bet IMO (if you pay off the balance in full every month) , 1% on everything (paid in full in Feb) plus instant cashbacks at Shell/Currys/Dixons etc :

well we always use our egg card to pay for all our purchases.. fuel included..
I filled up end of november and got my instant 2% cashback straight away at our nearest shell service station.

Then mid december i filled up at a sainsbury operated shell station and they didt give me my cashback

so I called them .. got told offer didnt apply to this particular station,,... but of cos when I looked it was in the list of participating stations.
Another call to egg was this card didnt qualify for the offer...
So I emailed them... the reply was that he offer was now finished... so i read the terms and conditions again and it is still on...
so far no acceptable answer from them yet...

I used my card at a Shell garage on Xmas eve and have got my cashback already. The 2% should stand until the end of March 09 - stay away from the Sainsbury/Shell garages !

American Express Platinum gives 5% cashback for the first 3 months & then 1.5% after.

where does it say 1% on everything?

In the general T's and C's of the card (different to the instant cashback rewards). Trust me you get 1% on everything - see below
Don't confuse this Egg Money card with the general Egg (not so good)

"Get at least 1% cash back on all purchases paid to your account, annually in March. Cash back is paid up to a maximum amount of £200 in each 12 month period (from your March statement to your February statement).

Use your Egg Money card in our selected retailers, and in addition to 1% cash back, you'll receive extra cash back or discount with no maximum limit, which will be credited to your Egg Money account at the same time as your purchase or very soon after "

American Express Platinum gives 5% cashback for the first 3 months & then 1.5% after.
If you can find somewhere that takes it - its fees are so prohibitive that many retailers naturally refuse it.
#23
Never had any probs buying fuel with it.

Egg money (the green card)

I have an Amex Platinum too which looks v cool but after the 5% has expired it's not too clever and I find a lot of smaller shops and restaurants do NOT take it
