I have just read on moneysavingexpert.com that Egg are now offering 2% instant cashback at shell petrol stations

If it is an Egg money card you have then you would also get the normal 1% ontop of this 2% so a possible 3% (2 instant and 1 added in march)

Thanks cheeryoleary from MSE for this deal

Or get a shell credit card and get 3% back! I find it really is worth just having a credit card for fuel purchases.

My shell card gets me 3% at shell and 1% everywhere else. At tesco this is 1% cashback for shell card + 1% for clubcard. It also makes it easier to keep track of how much you're spending on petrol.

But for existing egg card holders this is hot obviously.

Hot - Will start using my Egg card again...

Equates to approx 2p of fuel prices...

another point to make is that this is instant aswell so you can benefit more or less straight away - plus you will get the normal 1% egg money cashback making 3% in total - same as the shell card but 2% of it is instant.

Voted hot. My local shell was 94.9p for unleaded at the weekend.

Hot, time to dust off my Egg card!

you are missing the point. I dont care if its posted again ... Im not like one of those people. I am just saying that, being 11 months old and expired, is this the same deal or has it come up again ? I read on MSE and it ended 31st Jan 2008.

Please clarify if possible

Yeah, they're probably feeling the pinch again after losing customers due to being involved in more card skimming. I'm surprised Egg are partnering with Shell given how many customers have had fraudulent transactions from using their card at dodgy shell stations recently.

For the sake of 2% I'd rather not buy petrol from Shell ever again, at least that way I don't have to convince Egg that I didn't try to withdraw £200 from an ATM in Wallaroo, Australia again.

I've always used my EGG money card at Shell. So this is an added bonus. So, hot from me :)

thanks for confirming this still works.
Does this work for Egg Card "Classic" ?

The best cash back Credit card is the American Express Platinum for 5% cash back on everything for 3 months which is what I'm using. Most garages and big stores/supermarkets will take it. I'll revert back to my Egg card if this deal is still on when the Am Ex deal ends.

I cannot see anything on the Egg website for this deal.

sbfc - can you post your MSE link?

We are all wondering if this is the previous deal that expired in Jan 2008 or if they are doing this deal again

PS - the other HUKD link T&C's say that you can get the same cashback at Shell Sainsbury's Petrol Stations - go knows how you know which ones they are, but I tend to find Sainsburys always one of the lowest prices, so this would be extremely good deal

Anyone know if you can use the Shell Credit Card at Sainsbury's Petrol Stations run by Shell?

I buy petrol at Tesco PS, get Tesco pts worth approx 1% of spend, pay with Tesco Clubcard Plus card to get double pts, convert the pts to 4x value in deals - effectively 8% cashback forever!!!
#16
so has anyone with a regular egg credit card got this cashback?
#17
I got some instance cashback a few days ago, was only 54p but that explains it!!!

So yes, this is back on again. And works out to be 3% cashback in total matching the shell card (2% instant, 1% rebated yearly).

Too true, just get a shell credit card instead but hot for egg card holders.

Asked Egg and got this reply

Egg have just introduced a new offer in connection with Shell.

It is for selected card holders only and runs from 27 October 2008 to 31 March 2009.

There are notes left on selected accounts. I can't see a note on your own account as yet but I know we are still updating.

Although this might be technically the same amount as a Shell Mastercard, this is slightly more benificial as it is instant cashback, rather than money off your next Shell petrol purchase

Same here.

Shell Mastercard gives you 6% on fuel for first two months

I can confirm that Egg is still issuing 2% back for shell.got it today.

Shame that it will end week today :(

Wonder if they'll extend it again, I doubt it seeing that egg is closed to new applicants and this was a way of putting expensive debt on folk who did balance transfers.
