A while back you could do it, then they made it phone only but I think it's back now.

If you go onto xbox.com and account settings, there should be something in 'Billing' or 'Membership' that says 'Turn Auto Renewal off'

Thanks to yus786 i have cancelled my auto renewal via the online Xbox live website. I remember that option wasn't available before.

Getting auto-renewal disabled PERMANENTLY is harder than it sounds. It may say disabled on the website, but many people still get billed in 12 months time. Your only option is to phone Microsoft and deal with a sales rep begging you to stay.

cheers
#14
How do you get it for this price---when I login it is full price?
#15
Now bring on Dead Island..

Also, ta OP needed this!
#16
thanks to op for auto subscription cancellation

Sounds like it's the usual carefully planned Microsoft lock-in to prevent people from jumping ship to PS3.
#18
Super hot price. Shame it wasn't £1 each month, so you could pay £12 for a year :-/ ah well, still hot :)
#19
when does this offer end ?
#20
I noticed this on XBL dash this morning and bought em
#21
Nice.

silver account only?
I would like to know this too
#23
can you only use this once?
#24
Where are people seeing this on the dash? Spotlight, Inside Xbox, Game Marketplace etc?

It's not appearing for me
#25
Great to have auto-renewal as a website opt-in opt-out feature. Mind you, I'm paid up till February, so I've never had to phone them to cancel it anyway!

Anyway, thanks to Yus786 for letting me know about it coz I would've been left wondering.

is this like the other £1 for 1 month offer where you could redeem it as many times as you want?

that would be awesome

Great deal. The small print on the offer page says something about it only being available via the link. So I strongly suspect its therefore only available to Silver Members.
#30
Think it also said something about only one offer per person in the small print. Can't check it a present as one of my childweasles is busy using the XBOX to smash Finn McMissile into an oil rig.
#31
Just bought, cheers. Seems you can only do it the once.

what i dont like about paying by card with MS, is that no matter what, even if you cancel auto renewal, your card details are still kept for purchases etc, so if you get hacked, or say you buy this for your son and he decides to fall for a silly fifa con, then your card details are attached to the account still and your money goes bye bye

Was thinking of cancelling my auto-renewal,, but then changed my mind when my renewal price will be 'You Currently Have: Gold – 1 Month for £1 ' So really don't see the point in cancelling if they're going to renew me at that price.
#34
nah you can remove your card details when the subscription ends

I noticed that as well, but I think they will auto renew at the standard gold price?

EDIT : Can you check to see what the renewal price is on your dashboard

Yes they will. Make sure you turn off Auto-Renewal else you will be billed for the standard monthly Xbox Live Gold price (which I think is around £6 or £7 these days?)

37 comments and still no confirmation whether this is for Silver members only??

Has anyone who was already on Gold managed to do this?
It's not showing up for me either, so I suspect watfordcat is right about it being only for Silver members...

It's only for silver members. Not showing for a few mates with gold and not showing on my second Xbox with gold.
