  A while back you could do it, then they made it phone only but I think it's back now.
  
  If you go onto xbox.com and account settings, there should be something in 'Billing' or 'Membership' that says 'Turn Auto Renewal off'

  Getting auto-renewal disabled PERMANENTLY is harder than it sounds. It may say disabled on the website, but many people still get billed in 12 months time. Your only option is to phone Microsoft and deal with a sales rep begging you to stay.
