2 night Mini Cruise Break to Amsterdam from £33pp (based on 4 sharing, only £39pp based on 2 sharing).

BreakFree Holidays have teamed up with DFDS Seaways to offer you the chance to take a 2 night Mini Cruise Break to Amsterdam this Spring and Autumn from only £33pp.

With 2 nights onboard ship in an en-suite cabin, you and your friends can enjoy relaxation as well as great entertainment and wonderful food (not included in the £33/£39pp cost) - as you sail overnight from Newcastle to Amsterdam and back.

On arrival in Holland in the morning, you and your friends are taken by coach into the centre of Amsterdam. Either stay on the coach for a sightseeing tour or begin exploring the city on your own.

Thought this was a fab deal if you want a cheap break away; cost obviously rises for extras (food lol), but basic price is a steal!

Sorry, don't know how to add a pic.

Some dates available in March, but selling fast.

#8

Its about the same for the P&O minicruise to Amsterdam from Hull. I just got back from one, it was £10 for the extra night and we had to pay for accomodation but it's well worth it. You wont see the best parts of the city in the short amount of time you have with just the 1 day.

The place really comes alive at night.:-D

So less than 6 hours for a 2 night trip? No thanks

Just returned from this cruise and all I can say is oh dear!

Our trip consisted of getting on the boat 5:30pm in Newcastle, arrival in Holland 12 noon Friday, 1 hour coach ride to Amsterdam, 2 and half hours there then 1 hour coach back to the ferry. Left Holland at 5.30 back in Newcastle 12 noon Saturday. Had 2 and half hours in Amsterdam and a million hours on the ferry.

To top it off on the ferry a main course is 20 quid in the restaurant or you can pay 30 for a buffet?? Bargain. A burger and chips in the cafe was 14 quid. Breakfast consisted of 1 roll 2 pieces of ham and 2 pieces of cheese 6.50. Oh and I bought a vodka and coke and a pint of diet coke and it came to 9.50.

The itinerary in the post above is the one off the website but not what we received. There reason was that the boat was broken and had to do maintenance whilst sailing. We were offered to change the date before we went but as I had taken two days off work i didn't have much choice. They didn't apologise at all.

Overall save your 39.00 and fly to prague from leeds bradford in May for the same price. At least you will get more than 2.5 hours there. Oh and by the way my pound sign key wont work on my keyboard:roll:

The food on ferries and cruises is always dear. You can have a big lunch/dinner before you go on the ferry.

Breakfast is about £8 each (from memory, not fact) if you pay before you go. It is a buffet so you can eat what you like.
Are you sure you went by DFDS?

The itinerary was almost 100% correct when I went last summer.

May only be 5 hours in Amsterdam but for £40 what do you want? You get the ferry & transfers & accommodation for this price.

We've been on this and we looked at it more as 2 nights entertainment + B&B (paid extra for brekkie, but you could eat as much as you wanted)
Trip into Amsterdam was a case of a quick sight-seeing job, sample the cafes - and the dope for a few in our gang! Check out the 'ladies' in the windows;-) then along to the Bulldog bar for a few ales:thumbsup: All in all a cheap break, and the entertainment and bars on board were fine.

i just got back from a trip similiar to this and here is my few points

We set off 17:30 from Newcastle (or was it 17:00 forget now) anyways...

We arrived in amsterdam an hour late and due to this we never actually arrived into dam station via bus until 11.45am

The last bus leaves at 3.30pm but if everyone waited for that bus it be quite full i got 3pm and me and my girlfriend had to sit on opposite ends of the bus

The ride out, sea wise isnt too bad if you dont suffer from travel sickness but we had engine trouble and the room vibrated for the entire journey bunk bed above was shaking on the wall! needles to say i had no sleep that night!!

We stayed over night in amsterdam and it was really good though its expensive €5 a pint minimum!

On the way back we had high seas and it was terrible i dont suffer form travel sickness and i felt sick its like being on a ride at alton towers for 9 hours and impossible to sleep it was so bad

The ferry is a ferry and prices arent too bad casino was tiny and shops where alright. Rooms are really small as are the beds

I'm 27 and honestly never complain but if your doing a mini cruise without a nights accom then i'd suggest its only for lads / lasses in groups as ferry is boring!

if you going with misses etc fly or least stay 1 night in amsterdam as its at its best at night!

We did candlelit cruise £48 for both of us and it was free drinks and nipples (cheese olives crackers) and that ewas really good you get off and goto red light district and also go in a bar for a large shot

Also something to note if your delayed you lose time in amsterdam and ferry the day before mine didnt have anytime in amsterdam due to a 3 hour delay. they had 90 mins until boaridng opened and ferry left in 2 hours

This isnt enough time to get the dam square and back unless the bus doesnt stop
#22
good price but be warned, that crossing can get very choppy! make sure that you have travel bands and sea sicknes pills, we did it years ago. hubby was really ill! cabins are bunk beds and tiny (not sure if have double beds) you do get some time to wander around amsterdam, but not long enough to see everything.

we got the train from manchester to newcastle which was easy enough to do.

enjoy your trips if you go!!
#23
Also I see that they have the cabins under the car deck for much cheaper (£40 for 4).

have to agree the mini cruise is a waste of money as 99% of the time is on a ferry

who is it who is flying to prague for that price from leeds?

Yes definitely DFDS. I do take your point but in my opinion the 40 quid is a bit of an illusion. With the scandalous pricing on board it doesn't work out cheap. I felt that if their price structure was competitive then more people would spend more money. I also felt sorry for the waiters as there was no way I was going to leave a tip and I bet nobody else did too.

Like I said I would rather keep my 40 quid and fly to Prague in May. Works out at 31.50 with jet2 for return flights including baggage, taxes and check in. Yes granted you dont get accommodation but last time I went I got a hotel right next to Wencelas Square for 20 euros a night. 3 nights in Prague for less than 100 quid beats this rubbish hands down.

I think people are forgetting what this is!! You're getting 2 nights' accommodation, and an excursion (albeit a day trip!) to Amsterdam, for heaven's sake. It is what it is. For £33 you ain't going to get the QE-flippin-2 are you?! You can pre-book your meals on line for a 30% discount, or if you're that skint pack a loaf of bread and a pot of jam and do yourself some sandwiches!!! Sheesh, some people are never happy lol :-S

Seems like the P&O cruise is a LOT better deal  if you went for the 2 day 'minicruise' then you arrive at around 10am and leave at 5pm. The extra day is £10 and we found a nice hotel just to the south of the town centre for £40pp per night. (For a double).

The ferry cost (inc the extra night) £100 for the two of us. Parking at the Hull port was also only £15 for 3 days.
#39
the price sounds good but the trip is not, you only spend 6hrs in Amsterdam but over 33 hrs (17hrs 1 way) confine in a small cruise, the money can be better spent on a flight that would only take abt 1hr and leave you plenty of time to sightseeing in Ams.
p.s. if the weather is bad, you may end up suffering seasickness all the way....
