How much to buy the tickets direct? I did visit the stadium, but I think it was something like Euro 25 just to be shown around an empty stadium! Anyone that has never being, just watch your pockets in Barcelona. Pick-pocket heaven (+bags too), otherwise a fantastic place to visit.

Considering many say they are the best team in the world and claim to represent an entire region (hence that tagline) they hardly ever fill their stadium hence these cheap deals.

Groupon have a deal at the minute, its around £160 for 2 people - match tickets and hotel. not sure if this is any good but maybe worth a look.

If you're gonna go for it, pick the Sercotel Abbot .... it's the closest to the stadium and rates pretty well on Tripadvisor.

It is a huge stadium though. They still have the highest average attendances in europe.

You can buy tickets directly from Barcelona's website, it's all in English and very easy to do. Ticket prices start from 9EUR for the matches against weaker teams.

Tickets are often sold along Las Ramblas on the day of matches but unsure of actual price. As for the stadium tour it was about €12 when i went but it's an awesome stadium even when empty. The Espanyol ground ( Olypic Stadium ) is another tour well worth doing. Great deal this - heat added.

Went barcelona last year and did the stadium tour, match tickets were coming in at over 100 euros each so by those measures this is a bargain

Quite true about the highest averages in europe, because nobody has a bigger stadium. But the attendances mean 15 thousand seats are empty on average across the season in the league. Dortmund and Manchester United fill their stadiums in their league fixtures. Barcelona is also quite a bit larger than Manchester and Dortmund, as well as Barcelona always positoning themselves as THE club for the Catalonia region.

I always found it a bit disappointing that Barcelona don't fill their stadium most of the time and nor do Real Madrid.

As what tightar5e said 6 of us went 2 years ago and within 10 minutes one of the group had his wallet stolen and then you get groups of women come up to you pretending to be prostitutes and will reach out to "touch" you so immediate reaction is to stop them and the next thing their hand is in your pocket trying for your wallet. Another time one single bloke on his own came up with a football and tried to make out he was tackling you and same thing distract you and go for money. I would never go again even if it was free !

And like phillyboy said go to Bradford . Nice curry and a lot cheaper !

Can anyone see the category of the seats? The groupon tickets are category 3 right at the top

I'll counter that by saying I've been twice (last time in October last year) and had no trouble at all on either trip.

The pickpockets and general lowlife tend to be centered on Las Ramblas and I imagine there are more of them during the peak tourist season.

Love Barca myself. Easy city to get around and loads to see and do. Not the cheapest mind you. Even outside the tourist zones it's not cheap.

You can fly to Barcelona itself, or Reus (+train) or Girona (+bus), all have good links to Barcelona (all within 40 minutes to an hour). Personally I'd go for a hotel that is central as near to Las Ramblas, the metro gets you pretty near the stadium, its a 10 minute walk as I remember. Metro is very cheap if you buy 10 tickets, at a time.

Reus and Girona are generally cheaper, but you have to then include the cost of either train or bus. A tip, just check flights from any of these to the UK, to find which UK airports they fly to (Easyjet/Ryanair), check arrivals/departures for each airport via their respective websites. Also check charters - such as thompson, thomas cook - direct flights.

Watch if buying tickets form Las Ramblas, most are fakes or they take your euros and run. Also Espanyol are no longer at the Olypic Stadium at the top of the hill. They moved a bit out of the town as they never filled the olympic stadium.

These seats are the heighest you can get at the camp you. However you still get a good view

worth remembering la liga fixtures aren't announced until late on so be flexible with flight bookings

My god why do people go on about the Ramblas!? Venture away theres far more to see the boring old overpriced tat they have on there. Take a stroll down the harbour go and see the fountain show go and look down the side streets take a train or the tube somewhere else along the line. Lost count of the amount of times I've been there for various reasons and never had one hint of trouble or had my pocket dipped. Just take the same caution you would going anywhere abroad but for Gods sake dont spend more than half an hour on the Ramblas, its 15 minutes too long if you do!
#26
The main reason Barcelona don't manage to fill the stadium is that more often than not away fans do not travel. Because of the size of the country and the distance between many of the teams. Its a problem throughout Spanish football.
I went last year with my girlfriend and had no problem with pickpockets, its a beautiful city and if you haven't been I would definitely recommend it.

Can anyone post me in the direction either for the Milan or Madrid Groupon deal as I cannot see it!

Its just a good central point to base yourself, thats all - especially if its your first visit. The point about mentioning pick-pocketing is to be aware, as most aren't.

The problem with Barcelona, its quite easy to just book a hotel not realising your about 5 miles from where anything is happening, then end up having long metro trips into the city centre every day. If you take Las Ramblas as your target (and work out from there, and keep an eye on distances - its a good ball-park.

Also be wary of hotels telling you they are full on arrival, then packing you off to a 'upgraded' hotel 4 miles out of town, if you have paid for a central hotel, demand one. Better to get a 3* Central, than a 4* in the middle of nowhere. Barcelona is a big sprawl.

the £69 deal relates to 9th Feb – Barcelona vs. Getafe + 2 nights in a Barcelona hotel, all the others shoot up in price

Cheaper to organise it yourself.. Not voting either way

Last few times I've been I've stayed in a apartment close to the rambles for €26 a night. Nice modern building on hostel world

Tickets for footy from €9 so

€61 if you book it yourself

The metro from sants station is only a 10-15 min journey to central barcelona, stayed in a great apart hotel right next to sants about 2 years ago,my mates went to the match with osasuna, bought tickets at the stadium, helps if you speak Spanish if you want to do that though,as for pickpockets, you get them in any big city in the world

There is an official ticket outlet at the bottom of Ramblas, inside the same place Subway is. Failing that just order tickets online and pick them up out of a Caixa cash point when you get there.

Yes, Espanyol have moved from the Olympic stadium but it's still open and free to the public for a visit so well worth popping in if you're on way to Parc de Montjuïc.
