Just buy anything from Dixons until 11pm Christmas night and they will give you a 2 for 1 Vue Card for 2008. Pick up a cheap chord and you've got free movies for your partner for the whole year.

My first post...I hope you like it.

True I have one for this year (ends 31/12/07) and its not very good at all, it can only be used for films that have been out for about a month or so via their special 2 for 1 website

http://www.myvue.com/2for1

Go to Photo & cameras
select Accessories --> Batteries

AA batteries from 1.49 + 0.99 shipping
#9
what a disapointment, mainly old flims on show, otherwise excellent deal . it may be worth buying pack of batteries from currys, but knowing that i can't watch new realeases may **** me off after a while

I had this card for 2007, you can use it for any film which has been out for 2 weeks or longer; you are not limited to the ones shown on the myvue.com/2for1 link.

I think it's quite worthwhile, I used it several times and will try and get the 2008 one now.
#11
any film over 2 weeks ? but says on the 2 4 1 webpage that its only certain films ?

That is not true. It can only be used for the films that are listed on www.myvue.com/2for1.

yup, I got one free last year with my health insurance, after reading all the restrictions on the films you can watch, it went in the bin.

Technically true, but in reality ... NOT!!

Me and MOH went to Leicester square yesterday. We wanted to see RatatouilleI which was just excluded from the 2for1 offer (it was on their list a few days ago).

We had to buy the ticket from the guy who sold the food stuff. He hardly looked at the validity of my card, and we happily got the 2for1 offer!!

So in reality, he just sells food, can't be bothered to crosscheck your selected movie with the complete list of films that which one is qualified for the offer, so they chose not to turn down your purchase!!

The thing is these guys don't have anything to lose and won't bother letting you in to get extra money. ;-)

the most annoying thing is that the GIMME5 promo is over, i wanted to get a tv and its £10 cheaper today, but still more than it was yesterday with the 5% off. BLAG!
#16
Similar offer available through Orange Wednesdays ...

no, I went many times last year and saw films using the card... The only restriction is that the films must be 2 or more weeks older. As you say, if you only look at the films on the website it is very limited.

At least this is the case at the two Vue cinemas I go to; I.e. Leicester square and Islington; both in London.

This is a strange one, seems to be a great offer but then it isnt really when you look at it.

its not only selected films in selected VUEs but its also at selected times (between 19:00 and 21:40), so your really, really restricted. it doesnt become deciding to go out and see a film but them dictating when you can go and watch one.
#19
just get an orange sim card and go to the cinema on wednesdays. surely thats cheaper.
#20
My son has a dubit card so gets this offer anyways......www.dubitcard.com

under 18's only though

;-)

Ohhhh yessssssss... One of these cinemas opens up 5 mins from me in stirling in 2 weeks time...
Just bought my batteries...

Hot !!!!!

Again, we saw a film in a currently-unlisted-venue and at 17:15 time.

And I have seen many time slots at, say 10, 11 in the morning and 15 in afternoon. Have you seen this restriction in time anywhere?
#24
The times are not restricted at all.
#25
Do you think if I do two orders they will give me 2 cards?
Handy incase you go with mates and they can use the other.
#26
that is tottally untrue, i work at vue and can say this is only valid for NFT films (no free tickets) all films are NFT for a period of 2 weeks from when its out. this is to priortise the seats for the paying public.. (imo anyway)
#27
Are orange wednesdays covered by the NFT rule?
#28
Been after one of these for a while. It's valid for myl ocal Cinema at the Lowry, Salford and YES it is valid for ANY FILM which has been out for 2 weeks or more and there are NO time restrictions.
It really is a GREAT DEAL!!!

Just been to Dixons and bought an Electronic Game reduced from £12.99 to £1.99 and postage at £1.99 (total £3.98). Bargain to qualify for the Cinema Card !!!

Not one for using dixons or currys as find they are some of the biggest crooks on the high street but went with this one and ordered some batteries for the cinema pass, just after 10pm yet have received my order confirmation at 11.09pm so will this mean I will miss out, would not surprise me if this was the case.

Anybody else had this one pulled on them now or in the past?

I am informed by Dixons customer services that this is not a valid offer.
Only goods in certain departments were valid and a minimum spend of £399.00
#36
I don't suppose anyone has a screengrab of the offer by any chance???!

I bought a lightbulb for £5 just for the card.

the following google cache link shows the dixon page during the offer on the 24th of december 2007

http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:5-PTMjqxTfIJ:www.futureforless.net/martprd/editorial/2%2520for%25201%2520Vue%2520Cinema%2520Offer%2520V2

It clearly says "free with ALL purchases on christmas day" it doesn't not mention min spend or which departments a purchase has to be made from. The original page with t&c from this deal appears to no longer exist on their server (still can be seen in google cache link),

However their main banner image: http://www.dixons.co.uk/store_doc/rj/cinemaoffer/landingpage.gif still exists on their server, so they can't say otherwise.

We didn't get our be we're pursuing it. They called me back and I showed them the cached link and now they're looking into it. Probably a mistake on their part that they should honour.

It does say that
"Once you have completed your purchase and received your 3rd email with your Dixons order number we will arrange your Free 2 for 1 VUE Cinema card will be sent to the billing address on the order." as well as "Note that where an order is cancelled or refunded within 14 days of purchase it will not qualify for the 2 for 1 cinema card which will be posted within 28 days of purchase."
so they still have time to send them out. The most likely thing is that one department doesn't talk to another about a promotion or offer like this therefore cs doesn't have an idea about it and than the cards could arrive later on (28 days) in the post.

For the time being i recommand that people talk printscreens of that link incase they get iffy. Also without this offer i would never have purchased the batteries from them.
