  They mean only the first three steps - anyone of a certain age will remember the ad where the kid pushes it from the top step and it slinks down every stair successfully. Naturally, in real life, they get tangled after a few steps so you always end up frustrated and disappointed. A bit like the action man ads - they look ace with the scenery and sand etc. but then it's the realisation that it's just a plain old doll when you got it at home! Anyone remember the squirl?

  My six year old can get his to go down all 15 of our stairs, but then again, it's a proper metal slinky.

  I never had that problem, so long as you aimed it in a decent enough spot of the next step down you could get them to go far without any or hardly any hiccups.
