but what about batteries?

Power
- 3 x AAA batteries (not included), rechargeable or non-rechargeable are both fine.

I wouldn't touch this company!

I ordered a load of stuff. All on website as 'On Stock'. But was told half wasn't in after order placed. Took nearly a month for the whole order to turn up.

Items are very poor quality. No instructions with items which really needed them (like a Nintendo DS replacement case).

Deal with at your own risk!

Rubbish! I have dealt with this Hong Kong based company many times with no problems and the quality is good for the prices they charge. I have only had one defective item, which was replaced without sending it back and without question. Their website has a special link for customer service, which I have found is second to none.

Totally agree. I'm in dispute with these rogues about an order I placed at the end on November last year.

Ordered xmas presents and they failed to turn up. After they told me several times to chase up my order at the post office (like, which one??, anyway only the sender has the ability to chase up the package). Did they finally come up with a solution - resend the same items.

Since they were xmas presents there wasn't much point.

Paid via Paypal (useless regarding my dispute) and debit card all I can do is order some replacement tat.

Avoid imo, and pay with a credit card.:x

I've bought well over £300 worth from them over an 18 month period and never had an issue. Everyone to their own opinion, but these guys always seem to try their best when it comes to customer service.
#9
I also have used them for five orders... all good, including some of these torches.
#10
I have one of these torches. Very bright, nice and small, very handy indeed! Great price.

HOT!

That is fair enough, but their web site forum is full of messages from people complaining about goods not being received, or goods arriving and being a cheaper "fake" version and so on.

Bought loads of stuff from DX. Never a problem. Great price, great product!

This is where i got mine from, pretty fast delivery too.

Edit i remember now that it came with a handy elastic holder that you attach to your belt.

i have ordered loads of stuff through dealextreme and have been very happy. Sometimes things take ages to arrive, and i have had to contact them for one thing, but if you can wait 2-4 weeks for stuff to turn up, they are great! (Can be frustrating if you order 6 things and they wait for 1 item which holds up everything else for a fortnight...)

I haven't tried the torch above, i do have several SKU 3607
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3607
which is awewome. Runs off a single AA battery, feels nice in the hand and *very* bright for such a little device. Ideal with a battery charger which can charge individual batteries (also on DX!), plus maybe some hybrio type AA rechargeables, which don't run flat if you don't use the torch for a couple of months!

I been very happy with DX. Their stuff is a bargain and there service is great. They have a good return process if anything is faulty too.

They also do a deal with 7 if these torches for about £6 in a variety of colours. Very bright and great as small gifts.

I have this torch from DX and it is very good - never had a problem with them delivering - yes - sometimes out of stock - but so is Tesco Jersey and Amazon just the same!

Yes some of the stuff is low quality but the reviews always tell you that - it's cheap so don't expect top quality with everything for next to nothing!

I actually find the torch itself better quailty than the magnalite I once had in which the bulb was poorly constructed. These are BRIGHT!

Other items I was well satisfied with were the remote mini helicopters, and crystal cases for mobile phones. Just read user reviews - DX are honest enough to put the bad reviews up with the good so credit where it is due I say!
#17
These are the same as these, right?

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1254

Can anyone please guesstimate how many LUX a £0.99 bulb torch from a petrol station would be for comparison please?

Cheers

Hi Andy

I am no expert on LUX levels, but I am pretty sure normal lightbulbs have a longer range of light than LED, although LED are brighter short range (although they do look blueish).

Kinda true, but the more modern LED torches give a bright white beam. You can get really bright LED torches but they are £25 upwards.

Oh and I have had many items from DealExtreme and always found them to be a great company, its kinda like having Temple Street market on the on internet :D

iv always had a very good service from DX. yeah maybe the delivery maybe long but its free, the items may sometimes not work but they replace them for free. and if you want the genuine high priced items then go to a store that sells them, not a website where they have really good replicas for amazing prices

I have the same torch, from ledshoppe. Build quality is flaky, sometimes you have to shake it to get it to work. It totally ate through my cheap alkaline AAAs too, i havn't even replaced them.

The versions sold on DX are the "thicker" ones, if you look at the bezel around the lens, you can see it's thicker. The switch looks different too.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1100 These are one of the true bargains on DX, absolutely unbelievable price. All 10 of mine worked, only 2 the lock-switch didn't work.
If you have anything that takes CR2016 batteries, you can buy them just for the batteries alone! 2*CR2016 per torch.~ £0.26 per torch!

I've only ever ordered from DX once, but the stuff i got was cheap and pretty good value although build quality is not fantastic. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3607 This torch is very bright, but eats batteries (45-60 mins runtime), light is *slightly* green too

It's worth noting, it's the Chinese new year http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.166

these torches are great, if they are the same as the ones i've tried before, 9LED, 3xAAA,
suspended#25
so to buy or not to buy? and if buy which one?
#26
Hi Foxy,

Its been too long mate, how are you-still flying the choppers?

Thanks for the advice, have ordered one. Wasnt worried about risking the £3, just didnt want to fill my house with even more tat if they werent actually that good.
#27
I ordered these exact torches. They are great. Because they have 9 bright LED's they are far brighter than my one LED Mini Maglite with a £21 Extreme 2 bulb!!!

I ordered but confused
because login via paypal that's it
it didn't ask for delivary address and name etc
So is that they will send to paypal address?
#29
I've bought from both DealExtreme and Ledshoppe. In both cases, the goods took a while to turn up; weeks rather than days. But when I'm paying dirt, I'm not too bothered about having to wait. Never had any probs. Thanks, OP.

Got mine there too, the thing fell apart though.
Not too bothered with the price, just annoyed that i need to order another one now.

The DX ones look different so might give them a go.

I have had issues as well, None of the items i ordered came with instructions and those that needed software where missing it , My last order was stuck as "processing" for 3 weeks turns out was out of stock but was marked as in stock , after many emails I am still waiting for a refund one month later. now they are closed for Chinese new year,

I ordered a psp case, wiimote and nunchuk from Deal extreme in november all i received so far was the psp case and still no sign of the wiimote and nunchuk ive been contacting them a number of times since end of december and they just seem to be continuing with excuses and not supplying me with my wiimote and nunchuk if you do buy anything from them avoid paypal and go for creditcard option as be able get refunded then when your order doesnt turn up.
Ive voted cold as though it may be a bargain dealing with dealextreme isnt recommended from my experince :whistling:

Spent over £300 at DX?
What did you buy? The whole store?! :w00t:

I ordered this exact item from same company last month. Took roughly 3/4 weeks to come through.

Also ordered this for roughly 80p:

Mini 4-inch Metal Camera Tripod
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1309
Strangely, this only took 1 week to come through.

Both excellent buys though.

Well it is clear from the comments they are hit or miss, note to any prospective buyers they will be effectively closed until the 20th of Feb.though they let you order from the website without warning you of this fact, another clue to their reliability.

DX don't keep anything in stock. When its 'in stock' what the really means is they have not been told by there supplier that its not available. When its 'out of stock' the supplier has told DX so. If its on 'back order' the supplier has said, no we dont have any but should have some soon.

They are just shipping agents/middle men getting the goods of HK to you here. They dont have a magical warehouse full of thousand and thousands of different items.
