79p a song, and you can pick the best tune from albums meaning you cut out the dross that you get on every album then most albums cost less than a fiver.

I know a lot of people sniger at those who pay for music but Itunes is really good and a great way of getting cheap music IMO.

I agree, I use itunes for most of my music, and £30 itunes vouchers for £20 is good, plus my staff discount

Audio CDs are encoded at 1411.2kbps (44,100 samples per second times sixteen bits per sample times two channels).

I agree that iTunes is a rip-off. Very occasionally though you can get a good deal on an album and often with extra bonus tracks. For example, I bought one the other day for £7.99 that had 3 extra tracks and was purchased through Quidco who have a offer on at the moment; pay over £5 and get a free download. The cheapest CD that I could find was well over £11 and didn't include the additional tracks. However, often you'll pay far more for an album that will not have all of the tracks/CDs as part of a collection and it's worthwhile doing the research prior to purchasing from iTunes; comments/reviews from users usually highlight this. Personally, I have no problems with the quality.

But remember the MP3 encoding, or what iTune use AAC I think is pretty efficent. Higher bitrates would be nicer though.

Standard (i.e. copy protected) AAC iTunes files: 128Kbps (equivalent to 160kbps MP3 in terms of quality)

iTunes Plus (i.e. non copy protected) AAC iTunes files: 256Kbps (equivalent to 320kbps MP3, plays on any device/player that accepts AAC files).

TBH, surely you won't notice a difference in quality drastically unless you have two MP3 players playing, each one with different qualities.

If you're used to the lower MP3 quality, will you REALLY care while you're listening to the music?

Good deal. :D

lol, you people acutely pay for music? wow, i thought this was the year 2008.

pay £12 for a 3months membership (total of 450gb's download, 25gb's every 5days) with rapidshare, google what you want or register with forumw.org and you can pretty much get anything and everything. **** the industries, they make to much money and live there high life's while we struggle to put food on our table!

Cheap arses, piracy and ignorance. All the usual iTunes objectives covered already on page one.

I would like to know which number if I'm asked.

I know certain artists occasionally release select albums for free, but seriously, if no-one paid for music then the artists would have no incentive to make music in the first place!
Itunes is incredibly convenient and you can be sure of the decent quality of the downloaded tracks.

Yep.
At least when when you buy a CD in a shop, the owner has to reinvest the profit made and buy another CD to fill that empty spot on the shelf (the way buisness should work). Apple and other online 'services' are making a killing from their low quality mp3 offerings.

Not gonna vote on this

Tempted. Do these have an expiry date? If I add them to my account do I have to use them within a defined period of time. I don't buy a huge amount of music so this would be good if it had no expiry.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, just back from Argos Peckham, knew nothing about the offer, I said my ''friend'' saw it in the paper, they said I'd need the paper, I said oh just just said to mention the offer, asked me which paper, Oh um, I don't know. They even checked on the ''intranet'' and found nothing about the offer :( they couldn't do anything else to help without knowing more themselves.

Any more information please??

Tell them that they can check on the store messages on the intranet, its on there, also demand that phone 'store support' to double check. Makes me mad when certain stores dont offer good customer services!

I am sorry that I dont know what paper it was in, but all we was told yesterday morning, is that it was a 3 day deal, thats a press advertisment deal, and if anyone asks for the offer we can over-ride the price, im sorry that not all stores have been breifed on the offer, clearly shows the difference of customer services between stores, but can assure you it is a nationwide offer.

Thanks collo.

The offer is advertised on page 23 of today's mirror too, but the advert says you need to cut out the voucher and take it to the store.

Just printed it from pressdisplay.com - gonna go back and try again. (and thanks Bryan h+r).

And page 49 of the Sun.

Does anyone know if they take the voucher off you?

When I went in to Argos earlier, she asked if I had the voucher, but when I said I never had it, she went and printed a copy of the voucher for me. She assured me that a voucher from the paper wasn't really needed as they could easily print one.
