Heat added, that seems like an awesome price for two 1TB drives.

Good drive - running my PC on one right now. Don't forget that Samsung also do a 2TB version of the F3 so if you weren't aiming to mirror or upgrade a couple of PCs with this twin drive offer, and/or wanted to save even more
electricity (albeit with 5400rpm), then the 2TB version w/be an alternative to consider at around the same £point - though Scan are out of stock currently I see.

How does this compare 1.5TB Samsung HD154UI Spinpoint F2 DT EcoGreen, SATA 3Gb/s, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ price £55.21 each

Also note that scan provide a full 3 year warranty with it! Its OEM but really retail IMO, so best value ever :).

Good drives, voted hot.

7200 rpm vs 5400 rpm, other than that they are more or less the same.
Thank you for the info. the 1.5TB has this in the product overview "Model HD154UI/JP1 is NOT designed to be used in Desktop but specifically made for use with Docking/Rack/Caddy Use Only, these are being sold cheap!" would the warranty be void if put in a desktop?

I think what they actually mean is performance wise that model isn't recommended as a Desktop OS/Apps drive, as they are lower RPM.
Would be fine if you were just using the drives as data storage.
Also, may be worth checking up on the warranty, as they might not have the usual 3yr warranty.

Great drives, bought two of them a month ago for around £100!

Fast and quiet.

Recommended.

The discussion in this HUKD thread last year about the same drives may answer your query: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/1-5tb-samsung-hd154ui-32mb-cache-sa/485507?ppp=40

I actually bought 2 of this this morning from Scan for £96! I look in the today only section, I can see the deal but when I add to my cart it comes up as £96, are they sold out?

I have emailed them to see if I can be credited he difference.

Also today you get a free 96mm cooling fan!

Getting better... I need two for my ReadyNAS Duo. I'm going to hold out a few more weeks and see if a good 2x1.5gb or 2x2gb deal comes up :)

I have 2 of the 1.5TB and they run so cool at around 29C compared to the WD & Seagate which run around the 38c mark. personally I have found little performance issues with the 5400 speed.

I think I would rather buy 1 X 2 TB than 2 X 1 TB for the same money.

Good deal voted HOT

Great deal! They also have the 1.5TB F2 for £55, which works out slightly cheeper per gig, but not as fast.
#18
Thanks

I have one of these and it is a very good drive. My first was DOA but was quickly replaced within a couple of days and the replacement has been good for the last 9 months. Great value at this price

You have to add today only deals to the basket directly from the main page. I'm sure a lot of people make the mistake, so Scan will most probbaly be forgiving and refund the difference :)

I emailed them and they have refunded the difference for me :)

All hard drives fail occasionally, one faulty unit does not indicate a trend.

This 1TB F3 is probably THE best value HDD around, and is known to be extremely reliable.
And seeing as Seagate don't make a 1TB 10K RPM drive, it seems pretty obvious you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

I've seen deals posted that were only available in NI or Scotland etc, but us English folk don't go whinging about it on the threads...
You people say the same thing on all the deals posted for companies like Scan, Ebuyer etc. How about you just ignore the deals from those companies, seeing as you obviously know before hand you will have to pay a lot more for delivery.

How about comments like these might save people a little bit of time if they happen to read them before they go to the site and have to register just to find out how high the delivery cost is?

Us people? I also think the comments were all made in good humour, no whinging really. We'll leave that to you :D

Wow this is so cheap... I paid nearly £100 only 3 weeks ago. Fantastic drives... What a bargain!!
#38
Got the 500 gig version of this drive but think I might go for this tbh, can't argue with 2 TB for £85, I live quite close to Scan aswell so I'll just go pick 'em up!

I paid £66 about 6 weeks ago for one 1tb F3 so this is a fantastic deal. Heat added.
