Well 1TB drives are generally more reliable and faster than a 2TB drive, as soon as you get to 1TB and above the more platters you have and thus more chance of drive failure. Plus if your 2TB fails you lose all 2TB, whereas if 1 of your 1TB fails at least you've still got the data on the other. Also people may want to RAID the 2 drives...

I can see what your saying and for some people a single 2TB would be preferable, but as I've demonstrated there clearly are advantages to having 2 x 1TB drives and this is a good price for 2 very fast drives from a reputable brand and supplier (not that Amazon is not reputable!)

I bought a couple of these drives on Thursday and am expecting them on Monday as well. I'm going to run them in RAID-1 so the data is automatically mirrored.

Can you recommend a raid enclosure?

I don't see why we don't all buy 4 x 500GB drives to store 2TB of data (easily done with blu-ray back ups) ..
If Nobull had his way I'd have no sata ports left in my PC at all! ;)

Lets not even consider with the 3TB drives due out at the end of August!.. I'll just get 6 x 500GB drives!

(_;)

Seriously though... I have several 2TB drives... they are no noisier than my 1TBs infact the 5400rpm drives are quieter and cooler.

The only reason I would buy 2+ smaller drives would be for RAID

Whenever I click on the link for the 2 x 1TB Drive, it comes up with a page showing just 1 x 1TB drive.

FYI all scan deals in "Today Only" have to be added to basket through today only page. Clicking on the info then clicking add to basket will not give you the price reduction.
