It's only 19.98 for 1 at the moment so not a huge saving buying a pair of them, but i just got one for watching the dog with during the day and me and the missus both have the smartphone app and have it on our work computers and you get a good solid consistent stream, overall happy with it.

Good to hear what they perform like thanks. It's only down the M61 for you so only £34.79 for the two.

one more thing to bear in mind, the primary connection method for the camera is WPS, you can't manually connect with WPA etc and you need to set IP's assigned to the camera on the router to do a manual config. No deal breaker but just an awareness.

do you mind me asking what app you use to view the stream please?

it's the mydlink app, it's paired with the camera via a user account you register during the setup of the camera

A fixed IP address and port forwarding on the router are required to allow remote access via the web.

All the MiFi devices I've seen support WPS so should be ok AFAIK.

If it's any help I've set a Edimax ip cam on a Mifi no problem. Problem is with Edimax everytime it powers down or you swap from land to mifi the settings go.
    What are the Dlink like

If you run the included setup disc you can setup the wifi manually with wpa, you dont need WPS

But that will eat away one hell of a lot at your data allowance.

If you have WPS enabled on your router then you're a fool, It can be hacked in about 10-20 minutes. Google: "Reaver" to find out the dangers!

Well not really, just depends how it's implemented on said router. From the pen testing I do I get various results

I have one of these, works a treat. Setting the wireless up is a pita tbh, but once you've done one its simple enough to configure any others. One word of caution before buying though, they need reasonable light to work, so if you intending on using as a nursery viewer where light would be dim/dark, then dig deeper and get the night vision version. I have the 932l. Not bad for the price and ease if use/setup. But just a warning the definition is low.

The newer Dlink cams support H.264 coding and go right up to 720p resolutions. More expensive obviously and will consume bandwidth.

New efficient codecs are out there waiting to be used.
