Hello all,
I bought one of the Tesco Acer Blueray laptops and was looking to extend the warranty on it. I found the Aceradvantage 2 year extended drop and collect warranty for £26 delivered. Although it's drop and collect I believe there are a large amount of drop in centres and if you aren't close you can always courier it in to get it fixed. Warranty covers parts and labour and is 2 years on top of the manufacturers warranty so giving 3 years in total. Worth the money even if it's only the PSU that dies.

Edit: £26 adds 1 more year not 2 years as detailed above. Still not bad though.

Be gentle this is my first post. Sorry couldn't get the picture to work.

good post. looks like a deal. ;)
#3
It this just for Acer laptops of any make?
#4
It's Acer only, and directly with Acer.

Looks worthwhile - looking for a new laptop for my wife (seems like a fair exchange) and this might make us look at Acer.

Unfortunately, I've found it hard to get Acer to pay up with my warranty, but it is a hot offer if you can get them to fix it (just my humble opinion & in my experience)

I would go for tghis is they bothered to give a list of repair centres. There may well be 'many' but it isnt much good if they're all in London!
#8
As it's an insurance I assume you can return it if it's no good within 14 days.

Once mine turns up I will list the drop in centres.

Hi - I bought an Acer Aspire One about 6months ago from Dixons - could I still purchase this?
#10
Heat..... Gr8 price for an extended warranty. Just bought the 3yr one for my bargain 6530 from Tesco's recent clearance including ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE and Laptop Case from Acer (Plkatinum Package for £79... Was £125 from Tesco?

GOOD JOBBY!:)
#11
Nice price even if the P&P is a bit of a con!
#12
Would this work with refurbs (i bought one from dabs)? Can't find any mention on the site about refurbs....
#13
Unfortunately my housemate took exception to his Acer before this offer came on. Reckon they'll fix it if we tape up this cardboard box and stick a couple of chocolate bars in there as a sweetener?

Good deal by the way! Applecare cost me £58 as a student but is usually about the same price as the original £125.
#14
Good deal but would be good if someone can combine the details.

Like a lot of people on here I have a Aspire One and this would be great.
#15
good deal thanks mate

Curious - I telephoned the number on the website (0870 167 0819) and asked where the drop-in centres are. I was told this is in fact a courier service (at Acer's cost) and not a drop-in service at all. I was then given Acer's phone number to verify this information (0870 853 1000), since the first number belonged to an agent, and Acer did verify that it was a courier service from your house.

"AcerAdvantage is an European program that can be purchased with Acer products and activated within 365 days from the unit purchase date, this term is reduced to 90 days from date of purchase if accidental damages are covered.
It offers a three year warranty extension with Acer Repair Centres"
http://www.aceroutlet.com/CAT_ListCategories.aspx?cid=414&category=Advantage-Warranty
the only difference is this item is for 2 years. its priced at £26 excl del on aceroutlet.com. does anybody know where the service centres in london are?
#18
If im not mistaken, this is for 2yrs from the date of purchase - so only a 1yr extension.
#19
Yes, 1 year on top of the usual 12 months UK guarantee.
#20
I also just spoke to Acer Outlet (another agent for Acer) and a very helpful man confirmed that the carry in centres are in Plymouth and N. Ireland (and they are outsource partners for Acer). Since there are only 2 centres, Acer do the courier service for the UK, but only for the UK - for other countries (which the warranty includes) you need to use the carry in system, should you need the service.
#21
so this is for 3 years in total as per the op or 2 years in total (includin 1 year already included)

Damn, I purchased my Acer lappie in July 2007 so looks like I can't take advantage of this offer. However, great deal for those who have recently acquired one.

Strange their own Q&A says this;

"Pru Langley: What do you mean by carry-in. Where does it have to be carried-in to. What happens if I live in London and can't carry it in to the point that you designate?

SteveF: Carry in means you take it to a authorised repair shop, of which they're will be many and if you can't carry it in then you'll need to have it delivered at your own cost.

I was told by acerdirect.co.uk that the AcerAdvantage Extended Service Agreement - 2 year - Carry-in for £19.98 inc VAT was 1 extra year on top of the 12 months UK guarantee. I suppose it gives you the choice in the first year to use it if you wish, instead of taking it back to Tesco, Comet, or whoever.

Everyone I spoke to (agents and Acer themselves) apologised for the confusion - it would seem that nothing you will receive in writing backs up that it is a courier service for the UK, so I suppose Acer could change their policy anytime (which is only verbal anyway).

Aww rubbish. I've just bought a refurbished Acer 5535 which arrives tomorrow and this would have been a good deal for me. Still hot though
#30
Yep I can confirm that in the UK they collect and return free of charge. And lathough all the paperwork says that it's a two year extension it only adds 1 more year to the manufacturers 1 year. Still seems a good deal though, two years piece of mind.

Not sure where they get the price of £125.97 from though, looks like its £42 from Acer's website!
#32
Is the warranty transferable if you sell the laptop?
