Could it be the same as this one priced at £69.99?

http://www.healthhome.co.uk/Product/826_Spotting_Scope.aspx

The picture looks different but the blurb is the same.
#2
any comments - is this "cheap" junk or an OK product?
#3
Impossible to say without trying it. A sure fire 'good' scope would set you back anything from a couple of hundred to around £1,000 depending on your budget. However I bought a very useful little scope (new) on ebay a couple of years back for around £20, though magnificaiton is less than the one here.

In other words it's going to be a bit hit and miss. At the higher magnifications I'd say it's almost certain to be dodgy, and for that price don't expect to be able to bequeath it to your children.
#4
I grabbed one, surely can't go wrong at this price.
Their stock is dropping fast, hopefully there will be a few happy hotukdealers in a few days.

You're not going to lose much if it's useless, and if it's a good'n you'll have the laugh on all those punters whove spent hundreds of £s.

You'll probably need a full sized tripod for this kind of magnification so take a look at Hama. They're cheap and light to lug around, but make sure they extend high enough to use without having to bend double.

Would this be any good for dogging?
#7
what's dogging?

LOL yeah hank itd be top notch :P

Must admit that my first thought this morning wasn't that today I am going to get a Spotting Scope - but, that's what I love about this site. At this price it's got to be worth a punt! Hot deal!
#12
hot deal at this price, our dog cost us over £300 and he always runs off so got to be a dogging deal !
#13
OK sites crashed now. They got some other stonking deals too!
#14
Will this attach to my .44 hunting rifle? :-D
#15
Yep! sites virtually frozen up.
#16
I bought one of these last week and it has a much better lens than i expected. Well worth the 14.99 I paid.
It's not the same quality as one that costs hundreds, but I would have paid nearer 50 pounds for it and still been happy.

Yes it looks exactly the same as the one I got from halfcost - makes it look more the bargain that it is.
Also if it helps - the scope fits any normal tripod too as the one it comes with is a little small.

Much cheaper one arrived than the one in the picture for me, beware... :(

Site is similar to the first word but with a 'h'..........(not Sihte, Sithe nor Siteh eother)
#21
Voted hot as sure this would be great at this price for someone, however what is it good for?

Is it good for looking at the moon? I presume stars are not to be expected for this price?
When you say a cheaper version arrived, what was it like?
What are the pros and cons?
I bought a cheap one years ago and could never focus or even get the moon in the sight, would i have have the same issues?
Can this be used for terrestrial and celestial viewing?
Too many questions not enough answers

for £129 (a lot more, i appreciate) i instantly found this: http://www.telescopeplanet.co.uk/ViewProdDetails.asp?prod_code=PON07B000014
Which advises: It is easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments.

Im sure i could find a cheaper one with a bit of searching.

Site seems to be back up and running - but, I'm not going to disagree with you!

The half cost site isn't great is it... They've got some good deals though... Pretty slow loading pages and the photos of the items are poor quality. I will probably wait to see what people say about it before I buy one. It it's good then I will get one. Let me know how it goes for you sillycib. Thanks! :)

Thanks just ordered, they are going pretty fast and definantly worth a buy at that price, I ordered a camera bag at £1 too.

They are going fast - 104 in stock at 2100 tonight and now 61 at 2300.

Nabbed a one for me, I'm now thinking about ordering two more for my brother-in-laws (xmas boxes!) ....after all, every man wants a telescope in his gadget arsenal!

Fantastic spot (pun intended) heat & rep added.

Sky at night just starting with Patrick Moore!

Heat added - always wanted one of these badboys!

Mine was also slightly different from the pic on halfcosts website, though the one that came is exactly the same as the one linked on post 2 with an RRP of £99 pounds, it's definately not "cheap" looking. It's possible you did recieve a different one to mine though.

To answer scottys question, its fine for looking at the moon, you can get a clear image of the craters, quite detailed, though it's not a patch on a £500 scope, but what do you expect for 15 quid? ;)

They're back in stock! How do you un-expire a thread - repost or does a Mod have to do it?

It seems similar to the offer of Audi with a similar price and branded with "adventurdige".
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/142922/looking-good-spotting-scope-and-acc/

But it has Multi-coated lenses, Carry pouch, 3 year warranty and a brand. Does this one have? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

It does come with a thinly padded carry pouch with carry strap.
It does not come with a 3 year guarantee (it comes in a generic unbranded box with minimal instructions)
It does not say if the lenses are multi coated or not.

They also have about 60 left in stock as I type this.

Thank you so much for your important information, John.

I have made an order. But I intend to cancel it after seeing Audi's offer. For the 5 quids difference, I would prefer Audi's with multi coated lens, 3 year guarantee and a chance to choose one yourself .

Sorry for the confusion. It's Aldi not Audi. :-D Thanks and hope it's a good one.

I ordered the heater too. I hope it works well too. For £5 it's worth the risk. I'll be complaining if it gets faulty any time soon.
