OK while you use the 10 quid of "free" airtime up, but it is still not as good a deal overall as the Asda mobile rates, (and you get 10% extra calls if you buy airtime in Asda shops) so I can't see it being worth the bother, especially as it is on the T Mobile network :-(

The advantage is with Ikea you can pick the number you want; when you're £20 credit is expired you can then transfer it over to asda - best of both worlds.

I agree with everything nihcaj said.

ASDA Mobile all the way lol.

Voted Cold.

Well if chasing numbers around networks & being disconnected while they do it is the way you want to spend your time to save what amounts to a one-off loose change amount, then it is hot! Not sure I want a number any more special than any other, as up to now I have had enough wrong numbers, spam and thieves trying to rip me off and it is a pleasure to be free of them for now! :?

i ordered 4 asda sims on the 5/9/08 and still nothing, contacted them twice now. On the 15/9/08 they said they should be 5 working days. Anyone else had trouble getting hold of them?

That sounds awful - never had any of that myself using t-mobile via virgin sims so I'll just have to see what ikea is like - managed to get a number that's similar to my work landline which is useful for me so voted hot.

I wasn't on Virgin, it was on Orange... I have had the numbers for years, and was getting spammed to death recently, masses of multimedia rip-off messages... some months it was costing far more than the calls I was making! Orange couldn't care less - they were never GOOD, but has become a dreadful company now :-(

A new number has a lot to be said for it! ;-)

Virgin (ie. T Mobile network) is one I have tried before jumping ship, and I found it's coverage very poor compared to Vodaphone.

Assume we can use the credit to purchase Jamster downloads for £1.50 each with £1.80 casback from CBK ?

Data is 80p per MByte - 400% more than Asda's 20p per MByte (or only double the Asda price with the sign-up offer. ) I've tried three Asda stores and not managed to get a SIM though :-(

This is good if you have a better signal on T-Mobile than you do on Vodaphone I guess... or if you can't get your hands on an Asda SIM so voted hot.

That's not much of an advantage though, who cares what the number is?

Family mobile are a shambles! I ordered a sim 6 weeks ago but after 10 days no sim so i phoned up and cancelled and they said they would refund my £10. another week but no refund so called again and promised refund. After a month no refund but then a sim turns up in the post! I call them and they say return sim and i'll get a refund. 2 weeks after returning sim still no refund!

Stay away from these guys!!!

To Mr. Scoob65: If you waited 10 days + 1 weeks + 4 weeks + 2 weeks then you managed to buy your SIM before they launched in the UK :)

NB. I bought a SIM a week after they launched. It's 6 weeks ago now. Good service in my area. Think it's T-Mobile's network. Called their Customer Care twice. Answered the phone within 30 sec's every time and were very helpful. I guess the tech is quite standard. I vote HOT.

Was thinking about this a few days ago.

Get the memorable number, hope for the £20 [which makes this work out cheaper than ASDA] then port the memorable number over to an ASDA card for cheap PayG goodness.

Thing is, I'm thinking I prefer to have the O2 simplicity contract at a monthly £20...memorable number on this could be really useful in the long term.

I had no idea Asda where sooooo cheap! Wish I wasn't on a contract now. I'm with T Mobile Flext, calls are 20p!!!!!!!

I vote this cold based on Asda's prices.
