I genuinely didn't come on here to say this - even my family all buy them, but with that kind of attitude they have a point.

By all means, go and buy them, but ridiculing people for actually caring about animals instead of being complicit in their horrific abuse is out of order in my opinion. Yes they can be preachy about it, but they have a very good reason for doing so.

(And no, I haven't voted cold).

Good price for that amount of eggs but no thanks I'd rather starve or better still leave out a packet of custard creams off my shopping list and buy free range eggs.

ETA I didn't vote either way.

I should have but technically this is a good price for eggs - albeit eggs from abused animals.

Unfortunately, people are happy to allow this abuse to happen if it means they can buy an extra chocolate bar at lunch. Shame really but the human race is hardly known for it's high levels of compassion between each other - let alone animals people view as beneath them!

Don't really understand voting factory farming hot, other than not caring anything than (literally) pennies in your pocket.

The fact is the UK (a nation of supposed 'animal lovers') has a huge market for free range eggs for only pennies more than the cruelly farmed factory eggs. The US rarely has this choice and 'free range' isn't a common term over there.

Vote for cheaper, cruelly farmed eggs if saving a few pence is what you care about over how your food is treated before it's on your plate and you have the choice. The price difference is minimal.

You idiot! - how can you call people who eat budget eggs "chavs"? And as for "a few pennies more", can you tell me where I can buy 20 free range eggs for just "a few pennies more" than £1.50?

For info to everyone else, these were on offer today at my Netto (i know i says in the title from thursday)

A few pennies more is an understatement but you should really know what that means. I don't believe 99% of the people saying they can't afford free range. They'd have to give up other luxuries but thats just them saying they don't want to, not that they physically can't. (Or heaven forbid, go without. I know if money's tight for me and I don't want to give up my lunch time chocolate bar etc. I'll just go without instead of using it as justification for abuse - but that's just me),

I agree "chav" is the wrong word to use. People from all walks of life abuse animals - not just chavs.

Aldi sell 6 free range eggs for 85p so thats only £1.70 per dozen.Oh and futura Im far from being an idiot I've probably forgotten more than you ever learned.

By chav I mean the type of person who would rather not work for a living, and instead spend their time breeding, drinking cider and buckfast and smoking roll ups, hence having no money left for free range eggs.

I see more and more of these lowlifes now with walking frames and walking sticks as they can claim even more money from the working mans back pocket.
