You've been lucky. I have spent 9 months trying to get a refund for a returned faulty item. They stop communicating when you eventually try and demand your refund.

Anyway Sloaman I have searched for the item from the UK and found it in Argos for just £5.69 though you need to search to find and reserve em.

Never had any trouble with them. My rules for Dealextreme purchases:

* Always read the reviews on the site first to see if the product is reliable
* Never spend over £15
* Don't expect the item to turn up within 2 weeks
* Always expect the item to be a pile of cr*p

I've bought an in-car FM transmitter for £8 recently, cheap and tacky but does the job perfectly. Also bought the torch that was posted on HUKD a week or so ago, and is an absolute bargain for £13, excellent quality. Both items would have cost over 3x as much if bought from this country. If they had turned out to be cr*p I woudn't have bothered with the hassle of trying to send them back to Hong Kong...

Also the Argos item is slightly different, but it looks like they both do the same thing (no details on Argos re: games).

I had a faulty Media Player case from them, I photographed it, emailed it to them, I was impressed, they just sent me a new one, did not want the old one returned, but new one had a faulty power supply. So thought I would use the power supply cable from the 1st one, that was also faulty sounds like a bag of nails running.
Gave up, never trust anything with a mains power supply from them, it could be very dangerous.
They are OK for a few small things as long as you can risk losing your money,

Persistence works with DealExtreme.
They didn't deliver me £15 worth of batteries with my large order and it took me about 6-9 months of constantly posting on their online customer service ticket system. They closed tickets, told me to use a different system, just left open tickets unanswered.
In the end I threatened them quoting the distance selling act and although i'm not sure it applies to overseas traders it worked and I was refunded.
To be fair I have had better luck with my other orders (total 5 or so). I recommend keeping orders small.
Best of luck.

had 2 faulty watches from dealextreme first one they just asked for a jpeg of the fault and sent me another one
second one i had to return and they sent me a replacement and refunded the shipping costs

Anyone who has any real problems with DX, just open a PayPal dispute.

To be fair, I've had several successful refunds from them in the past for faulty and dodgy items but my last one, they said they'd refund and never did at which point I opened a PayPal dispute.

Refund within a few days.

Looks like a Master System/ Game gear emulated device

Yeah but DX sell lasers that can kill people.......lol

(See lasergate on the zune thread)

I've ordered from dealextreme quite a few times (about 10 orders, rough guess, most of which having between 5 and 10 things in), and have never had a problem with them.
To echo the sentiments of one or two people above, I'm always aware that things can go wrong and that they have a bad reputation for after-sales, so only order what you can afford to lose. (Keeping orders low value makes sense anyway, as you don't want to be stung by Customs.)
I've saved hundreds of pounds by shopping with them, so I'm very happy to sontinue using them.

surely the various megadrive collections for ps2/xbox & ps3/360 offer better value

This could be handy if you're going away, and can just plug it into the tv, rather than lugging a couple hundred quid's worth of console with you.

I got this last week with the Argos offer for £5.96. There are a couple of decent games on it that although look crap, are strangely playable but apart from that it is pants.
#21
I've purchased from dealextreme 10+ times. Only problem was a NDS cable that turned up as a cheap and nasty watch but all in all very happy with them. Got three USB sound cards for about £1.50 each - I couldn't get one posted in the UK for that. Sure most of it is rubbish as stated but for little bits like the USB sound cards - you can't go wrong.
#22
does the argos one have the same games?
#23
Maybe I was lucky, but when Dealextreme sent me an item that was broken en route, all it took was a photo of it and they sent me another immediately.
I've had a total of 5 other trouble free purchases also
#24
Used DealExtreme over a hundred times, never a single problem. With that said, I don't recommend ordering anything that is likely to need support. I stick to sub-£20 items, usually. And don't expect your order to arrive within two weeks, though I live near Manchester and usually get my orders five days after they're shipped (but it can take a few weeks for your order to ship if you're ordering uncommon items).
#25
They sell NES emulator ones on the market for £10 here in Liverpool which have Super Mario 1 on amongst others.
#26
If you receive anything faulty then send it back and start a PayPal dispute immediately. DealExtreme will advise you to be patient as returns take time to be delivered and booked in, but that delay tactic is so that the Paypal guarantee expires and they don't then refund or answer any communications.
Stick with Argos far more reputable and reliable.

you do realise don't you that a lot of people don't have a ps2/ps3 or xbox?
