Seeing as there is a lot of searching going on in the FS forum for Nintendo Wii games I thought I would post a list of games I found at TESCO. They are all under £20. Some of these games are being traded in at CEX for more than what you can buy them e.g Crash of the titans is £18.97 & CEX trade in at £22 cash or £24 trade

Games available:

Ant Bully

Rock And Roll Adventure.

Billy The Wizard

Balls Of Fury )

Godzilla Unleashed

Telly Addicts

Carnival: Funfair

Crash Of The Titans

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

Meet The Robinsons

Rampage - Total Destruction

Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Bionicle Heroes

Monster Trux Arenas

Anubis II

Hope somebody finds this useful.

all them games are shovelware

woud not buy any of them some are RRP at £19.99 too

Why is it only the naff third party games that get put on sale?
For most of them, £20 is still a bit pricey.

I am suprised seeing as Crash of the titans & Carnival are ment to be really good
#10
Good spot there but in all honesty, all these games are under £20 anyway and are some of the worst games on the Wii that stores can't shift anyway.

both 6.5/10 on ign

and carnival is a budget title already, crash of the titans is a better price concidering its RRP but still a kids only title as its so short and easy

probably 2 of the better games on the list but seriously do not buy chicken shoot and balls of fury!!!! worst 2 games to come out on wii

Thanks for letting me know I will avoid these 2
#13
Thanks for the heads up, I thought chicken shoot would have been an ok buy to work with the wii zapper when its out but apparently not! :)
#14
Whats Ninja Bread Man like? I can't find any reviews of it.
#15
I've seen a video of Ninja Bread Man and would avoid it like the plague. Tony Hawks might be good, though....
#17
I bought Chicken Shoot when it came out for £14.99, even my 3 year old thought it was rubbish!... still it traded at £16 at CEX so not all bad!
#18

AND Resident Evil 4!

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which came out last week is also supposed to be very very good (I've bought it but not yet played it)

Resi Evil 4 is one of the best games you will ever play.

Prime 3 is excellent, but id maybe avoid unless you have played at least one of the first two (the first of the trilogy is again one of the best games you'll ever play)

Super Paper Mario - another A-list Wii title
#22
There's far too much emphasis on price on this site. Sure, those games are cheap, but at £20, none of them represent good value. You'd get much more enjoyment out of buying Super Mario Galaxy for £40 next week than you will from buying any two of these.

Which is your opinion but others may disagree. I have been told by a lot of people that the Carnival game is great fun and Crash of the titans must be a good deal seeing as it is £30+ every where else

Also I take you played them ALL to have this opinion
#24
I personally think that £20 would be wasted on any of those games. I find a useful site for finding reviews of games is www.metacritic.com. I have learnt my lesson not to be tempted by cheap games with funky cover graphics - I only ever buy a game if it gets a good user rating. Go to Virginmegastore and you can get a really good game for £30 or less.

I notice on the Asda site they have Mercury Meltdown for less than £20 - that's quite a fun game. Excite Truck is another budget game that's good fun. However £20 on a game you will only play once or twice is not good value. Do your research before spending... £20 isn't a small amount of money now really.
#25
Actually there is one good buy on the Tesco link: Eledees for £19.47 is good.

I'd like to second that, Super Paper Mario is ace. I traded in Mario Strikers for it and I don't regret that decision.

i love paper mario top game indeed.

btw marvel ultimate alliance is a good game, so dont rip on that lol.

You don't need to have played a game to know if it's any good or not, that's what reviews are for. A quick trip to metacritic.com will give a very strong indication as to whether or not something is decent... One or two of the games in the list aren't too badly rated, but when there's so many fantastic games around, why settle for something that's only ok?

Because they are half the price.

The only problem with these sites that rate games is it usually aimed at the proper gamers and not fun gamers.

Save your money and preorder Super Mario Galaxy (release 16th) from Virgin for £30

I can see what you are getting at, but this is why game rental is so useful. What's £2.50 in the grand scheme of things? If it's a good game, you'll buy it. If it stinks, you are not stuck with it!

Games are usually reviewed on how well they acheive what they set out to do, whether it's Nintendogs or Metal Gear.

These games may be half the price (though in many cases, they're not), but there's less than half the enjoyment to be had from them.

I'd rather pay £200 for Super Mario Galaxy than buy some of these titles, because I'd get much better value for money out of it.

Only 2 reviews on Meta - not good ones either.

Cheat Code Central:
Of the worst games you could ever have the misfortune of playing.

EuroGamer
Ninjabread Man lasted half an hour. HALF AN HOUR. Three levels down and I was booted straight back to the main menu without fanfare. I thought I'd pressed the Quit button by mistake... Half an hour and one hundred percent done.

My two-bob regarding titles of unknown quality;

It's not the be all and end all of gaming reviews (some of the respected sites/mags are not included, and some of the ones that are included like to routinely hand out OK titles 100% BEST GAME EVAH awards), but Metacritic for all it's average calculating simplicity is generally a very good gauge, especially when the average is below 50%.

I'm not saying the press are always get it right (IMHO) - Asphalt Urban DS got a reasonable-ish score, but it's flashier, brainless, jerkier, and vastly inferior playing (IMHO!) sequel scored higher, go figure.

As for these games, they are cheap for a reason, you might get away with it if you're buying for someone who is under 4, or only previous experience with gaming was a Donkey Kong Game & Watch from 1982. Which means you are evil :giggle:

When Argos were selling Twilight Princess for under twenty quid, or the Pre-Order deal on Endless Ocean/Forever Blue , these are the ones worth taking a punt on.

Research is a must when you buy games, Google if you're not sure, there's too much junk out there to waste money on, and too many overlooked gems that didn't get a huge marketing budget.
#34
The list below is to point out the games on that list which are well put together and 'quality' and may suit a casual gamer. (price may be cheaper elsewhere on some?)

Cooking Mama £19.47, good fun for a casual gamer
Endless Ocean looks good, specially for casual gamers £17.97
Eledees - very pretty, £19.47, good for a laugh
Mercury Meltdown Revolution - £19.47 - my idea of hell, but some people will love it - guide your blob.
Heatseeker - £19.47 - it's fast paced, ok for casual gamer with patience. Even I can shoot stuff down ;)

Massive games like Mario Galaxy are fantastic, but not so good if you can only pick games up and play with them for an hour or so rather than spend time practising...you just don't get any good at them and can't complete them/get stuck hence bored.

And ZOMG this one is casual gamer heaven for parties

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5683477/Trail/searchtext%3ENINTENDO+WII.htm

Rayman Raving Rabbids for under £20. It's absolutely hilarious. Plus buy 2 games and get a half price docking station for remotes.
#35
I also go by metacritic.com, but for the purposes of this thread, i can say out of the games listed in the original post, i have only played Carnival: Funfair, and Tony Hawks Downhill Jam.. neither are worth buying.

Personally I would save for Super Mario Galaxy.. if you're really strapped you can probably find a good deal on Zelda, Mario Strikers or Excitetruck on this very site instead.

If you're an occasional player, I can't stress how good metacritic.com is for locating the good games, without having to go through every review site on the net!

#36
not sure if already been posted but at argos buy 2 £19.99 games for £35

does n't show up at tills so print off reservation with price on and take it with you, the manager should over ride the till
#37
So you can get Raving Rabbits & Sonic secret rings for £35...... BARGIN

Good spot!!!!!

Argos do have a few games that even the hardy gamers may like for under £20
#38
Cheap and cheerfully, when tesco offer games at these price these are normal B titles cheap and not very good. The AA titles are the ones you always have to folk out for. Yet cooking mama which was a budget game has gone against that rule and sold millions
#39
yep, i got cooking mama and sonic for £35
both of which are around £30-£40 each at other shops

just add 2 £19.99 games to basket and one of them changes to £15.01
