Careful which colour you buy, some don't have a Built-in Webcam according to the specs.
#2
Seems like a decent enough deal for the spec...
#3
Seems a fair deal whats the battery life like.
#4
Is the shared graphics on these suitable for the likes of Civ5..?

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB) graphics card
#5
very good deal in my opinion... heat added
#6
good price for this spec..
#7
Hummm so close this, its got a Radeon HD 4330 but no HDMI port? Also no wireless N which is a shame.
#8
can someone tell me if this is a good machine for the money

It looks like these two only

ashtad: I would go for Intel chips over AMD.
#11
Looks very good for the price, especially for a dell. Would these be hackintoshable?

FYI - These don't have the ATI dedicated graphics mentioned above.
#13
Weird. They're charging the same for the Radeon 4330 version as they are for the Intel GMA version. Better read the specs carefully before you buy. Great price for the 4330, even if it is a Dell (boo)

Mada06, some of them do and some of them don't

For £25 more... I would go for this one...

More RAM and a bigger hard drive!

OS "recovery discs not included" WTF ?????????????????
They're supposed to give you your OS disc aren't they ?
Yet it is with the one mentioned above ?
#17
Decent prices, but was looking for a 17"

You have to burn your own when you set it up.

Also 20% off the Inspiron 15R Black (Intel® Core™ i3-370M Processor, 4GB, 500GB, 15.6", Windows 7 Home premium)...

:)
#20
These days, you're usually asked to make your own OS recovery discs when you first turn the laptop on. I have absolutely no idea how this saves them money.
#21
Just spotted one, can anyone tell me if this is any good ?

Which one would be best for playing games such as Warcraft?

Neither of those, they would barely make it past the login screen. WoW have increased their graphics requirements, so don't go thinking that a budget laptop will give you anywhere near a playable framerate.
#24
The description for most of these say the drive is HD-DVD compatible... that cannae be right surely?!

Would they work with CiV5 though?

Either that or this:

Anyone knows if there is a big difference between shared graphics with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB) graphics card (1545 Pacific Blue) and dedicated ones with the same card (1545 White)? If not I'd rather go with the former as it's much lighter...

Or its storred in an image file at the beginning of the hard drive either way the free drivers disk lark finished couple of years ago on most esp dell they told me it was a cost effective route.

Some models do include discs

is a cheap deal but the graphics as ever let these lappys down people play so much memory consuming games today i think these struggle...

Just ordered one for my Daughter (pink of course) via Quidco for an extra 3% cashback and noticed this, thanks to your post.

I will check it out after I have collected it!

Forgetting gaming.. do you know if the 1545 with the ATI Radeon running 4gb of memory will be sufficient power to run intensive programs such as Lightroom, Photoshop etc?
#33
Not sure these specs can be relied upon, the first Pacific Blue one says OS discs not included. Scroll down to the other Pacific Blue one OS discs included ?

Also wouldn't be at all surprised if they all came with webcams tbh

hi

can anyone confirm if http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-7095.aspx
has webcam.
i think the model 1515 says has webcam, whereas others dont as well as pics dont show webcam, so i think specs are incorrect?

If thinking of purchasing a Dell it's really worth going down the Dell Outlet route because as long as you are prepared to be patient, some great deals can be had.

For example I recently purchased an Inspiron N5010 with i5-450M(2.4GHz) processor, 320gb hdd, 4 gb DDR3 ram, dedicated ATI Radeon HD5470 1gb graphics card, bluetooth, 1.3mp built in webcam for £367 delivered. 1yr warranty included.

The laptop was in A1, as new condition and the N5010's are much better looking laptops than the Inspiron 1545's.

Looking at the CIV5 requirements - http://www.civilization5.com/#/community/system_requirements the i3 graphics are good for a minimum; so the i3-370 system you liink to with undisclosed "dedicated" graphics should be better than that.

The HD 4330 graphics should also be OK for that minimum.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

They would only be reaching the very minimum level according to the requirements - I couldn't say how playable that would actually be...

EDIT: Checking on other i3-370 deals and on reevoo http://www.reevoo.com/p/dell-inspiron-15r-i3-370m-4gb-500gb they show this as having 550v graphics. At £407 that would be great value!! The 550v is in a different league to the 4330 graphics even. The Red model says "Shared" while the black says "dedicated". IF it is dedicated it'll be the 550v or faster 5650; but most likely there's no dedicated graphics after all :(

Seems VERY odd that.
