make sure you google or check out other threads on here before parting with your cash for indesit / hotpoint, and don't be fooled by their 10 year warranty, the sting there is the exceptionally high labour charges which hotpoint themselves will tell you can be reduced massively by buying their extended warranty. If you want to have a new friend who comes to your house every month or so, then buy one of these as the engineers are very friendly bunch normally. :(

I haven't had chance to make friends with their engineers although I bought a new tumbler a few months ago as they've sent three different ones so far. That said, I've got to know a nice lady in Tesco Customer Services since I bought it

411 quid with code

http://www.tesco.com/direct/hotpoint-american-fridge-freezer-ffu3dk-black/680-2975.prd?skuId=680-2975

Cheapest I can see elsewhere (with GET30 code) is 427 quid from AO but I don't like their returns T&Cs one bit.

We had a Hotpoint dryer that was recalled for being a fire risk
After 3 months of waiting around, we got an Indesit that failed within 24 hours and had to be taken back
We now have another Hotpoint that is awful and spits steam out of the front

Will be going back to Bosch as soon as we can afford to.

Don't touch these brands with a bargepole.

Except they're very busy on older tumble driers at the moment!

Thanks for posting. I was just about to order an intergrated fridge freezer from AO when I spotted this. I ordered from Tesco and saved £70 - just need to find a deal on wine to fill it up!

Just bought a new washing machine. Oh, and it wasn't one of these fire alarm testers!

Got washer and fridge freezer and only had guy out re accidental damage of washer bowl. That's four years now.

Nine months since we reported ours for the repair and still no date...looked at the replacements on their 'have one of these instead of waiting forever' page but am reluctant to give them another £50-£100 for the privilege of a dryer that works! Which one did you get?

Update from previous thread - I bought one of these from a double bonus point offer with Tesco. Got a machine that had been subject to recall due to fires and modified before sale. It overheated and scorched damp washing after just 6 months. Tesco wouldn't do anything - just put me direct to Hotpoint/Indesit (now Whirlpool). They repaired it but wouldn't even extend their warranty although we were without it for a month.Hope this post helps someone.

Seemed noisier so had engineer out again yesterday. He said that there wasn't any real problem so use it as usual. Tesco customer services rep said she'd get his report and then speak to me.

I paid £99 for a replacement dryer and it's completly crap, have to put every load through twice to get it enywhere near dry, I'd rather have the fire trap back to be honest, I'll never buy any of their products again.

Thanks for this iwishihadadonkey. I have just ordered an Indesit IDV75 tumble drier £169.00 saving £33.80. I can see there have been issues but visiting the Indesit website (which covers Hotpoint as well) they know about the issue and have performed a 'fix' which will show as a green dot either inside the door or on the back of the machine. The fire risk was caused by not cleaning the fluff filters so I will make sure I do so regularly. My tumble drier is in the garage at the bottom of the garden anyway (no cars) and it will just be my husbands rusty old tools at risk anyway (ha ha).

Why so many negative reviews? I'm worried now! There are so many positive feedbacks for both the models I looked at including on Which? and John Lewis website. I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.

tempted but dont think its worth the risk getting an old box that burns your house down ><.

I've always had Hotpoint and Indesit laundry and refrigeration appliances and have been very happy with them. My Indesit dryer was recalled and has been replaced and I'm delighted with the new one.

Does anyone know if any of the hotpoint / Indesit washing machines are likely to catch fire like the driers? I coulndn't see anything on the uk fire investigators recall site: http://www.uk-afi.org/product-recall

Also any links for reviews on which are the most reliable brands?

Thanks.

does anybody know if anyone makes a slim line condenser dryer, 500mm or 550mm wide. It's seems that such an appliance does not exist.

You'll be limited to the 3KG load models eg the White Knight 38AW. Full size washers/dryers are 60cm as standard.

Edit: just realised you said condenser, not aware of any small ones that aren't vented

Ordered the hotpoint tumble dryer in the description, but can't see any mention of recycling on my order receipt?
Price has gone up slightly as well but still a good deal, thanks.
