My first post on here even though I often consult this site, but I thought this was a very good deal so I decided to post.
So you pay £5 upfront and you get a monthly allowance of:
200 mins to any network
200 sms to any network
512Mb
+ free calls to Ovivo (on top of free allowance)

Downsides:
For now, when you go online, you are redirected to the ovivo website which displays ads. (not a big deal for me but let's see how it evolves in the future)
Only works for Android phones, win7 and Iphones (blackberry phones should follow up shortly).

Roams on Vodafone.

After allowance, 6p per min, sms or Mb.
I subscribed and I am very happy with it so far. I think the downsides are not that bad for what it offers, especially that in my case, the free allowance covers by far what I need, so I don't have to remember to top up etc. I had to contact CS and I must say, it is very reactive and friendly.

Tethering allowed, you can stick the tablet's sim in a dongle to use on a laptop.

Probably not for everyone but I am sure many people will be interested.

Update: as pointed out soled73 they only supply standard SIMs NOT microsims
- bp4917

I have posted the cheapest microsim cutter i could find if anyone is interested in cutting down their SIM cards
- bp4917

Remember you need to add their APN. On Android, for internet access use (APN type: default, worked for me):
Name: Ovivo Internet
APN:ovivomvno.com
APN type: internet
OR
Name Ovivo Internet
APN:ovivomvno.com
APN type: default

For MMS use:
Name: Ovivo MMS
APN: ovivomobile.com
Proxy: 212.183.137.12
Port: 8799
MMSC: mms.ovivomobile.com/ser…mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS Port: 8799
APN Type: mms

Just thought I'd add this (from the t&c) to the original description so people know what they're getting in to! (Credit to rathod post #114 and stuartc1 post #115). Also see first post by kas786 to see the dodgy history of the company!

dont forget that this offer is available for mobile data too

ovivomobile.com/23/…ff/

Got my sim up and running in an unlocked Three dongle.

Just make sure you do not give them a phone number when ordering and use a disposable email address. that way they cannot spam your normal email address / have no connected voice line to call - so the only way they can get you is by post and that can go straight in the bin. Use a made up name so that you can spot the Ovivo generated spam.

I thought this was a great deal till my dad checked up on them, he's requested i put some info on this site for other HUKD'ers to see as he doesn't want us falling foul of such a company

    Here's his comments ...

Seems the owners are the types who setup co's then within 2 yrs close them down. They do have a history of this already (more info to follow below). Like my son i thought this was a mega hot deal but then checking the companies history I've decided not to allow my details to be passed onto them. I feel they may be using the data/ID info for their own unscrupulous activites (ie selling on to other parties without the users knowledge, also location & other online activity details).

    The company details:

07768728 : OVIVO MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED (setup 9/9/11). Originally called OZONE MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED (changed name on 26/1/12) - 1 director company (ie SME - small business - a 1 man band it seems?)

07456222 : MOBIUS MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT SOLUTIONS LIMITED (setup 1/12/10)

This is one of his other companies (he has 3)

07435849 : GRAND SLAM MOBILE LIMITED (setup on 10/11/10) the 1st years accounts should have been up to 30th November 2011, no accounts or other paperwork (bar setup info) filed with companies house.
Risk : Credit Rating is Suspended - Exercise extreme caution. Exercise extreme caution in dealing with this company. This Company is being voluntarily wound up.

From the above it would seem there is a history of this 33 yr old (yes that's how old the boss is of these co's) closing companies down within a short period of time. They are all new companies, the model as most of the other members state is not sustainable, an individual would not setup a company and not desire a profit, this would be an ideal way of harvesting peoples credit/debit card numbers, other ID info & info on my surfing habits & location history & then selling them onto the highest bidder. The chances the owner will be reprimanded for it are very slim knowing the likes of most government bodies!

If possible use as an emergency backup phone only & make the payment either with a prepaid card or with a card linked to an account with little or no activity.

Just my thoughts/views as always other HUKD'ers can flame me for my comments but i thought i did put up some pertinent comments re: the gamedemon in the past. Even though some of the HUKD sites were still advertising that phony co's wares!!!

Sounds too good to be true. The OP has joined HUKD only yesterday to post this single deal, I would be very careful. Definitely a SPAM, quite possibly much more than that- I would stay away.
  3. deleted298827's avatar
There is no way that this is sutainable, but it is interesting the way the fee structure works - people pay up-front. So I can certainly see that a huge subscriber base could be built very quickly and maybe even profitably, and then I suppose the company can just rewrite the contracts and try to monetise that part of the customer base that will be slow to leave or will feel tied in because their personal phone number is controlled by the company and there is some inertia/friction about getting that transferred out again.

I think I will pass because I see a train wreck ahead.

you may get spam, if so plan ahead.

    1) pay via prepaid card
    2) use a email address separate to your normal one (I have one just for freebies and others where I suspect it may get passed around)
    3) don't port your regular number
    4) use for a backup phone as a second line

follow this and whats the worse can happen? you lose the fiver? or am I missing something?

Such ignorance re: looking up company data here. Goes to show that a little info is too much for the ignorant mind.

You don't have to have money in the bank to have a successful company, i.e. you don't have to have a stash of cash at year end when you report your figures. Geez, limited companies have shareholders you know. The guy ran a consultancy firm; please understand how IT consultancy works and then cast your ignorant aspersions again.

Someone trying to do something different with the revenue model and is open about their data policy, partners with a flagship UK company and yet still gets smacked down by someone's 'dad'. How you can call this guy a fraudster is ridiculous and your accusations about VAT assumptions are frankly wrong.

You know what, I've just read your posts again, and I fell for it - clearly you are just a wind up merchant. Hehe, actually you are quite funny, I hope everyone gets the joke and has a chuckle with you. ;-)

I did some research and they passed my "ligit" test. Of course, I did not leave it at that. I utilized other security measures such as a brand new Facebook account that I use for Apps & companies (ie, no personal details are on that Facebook account, and no real "Friends" are linked to it, merely Apps/company-related/Ovivo "Friends".Granted, there may be chinks in my privacy & security armour, but I'll fight that battle if it ever comes about (and will relish it). Thus far, the service has been excellent and I've not had any issues, just 2 months of excellent service 8)While I agree it *may* be one of those "too good to be true" this, equally, it *may* not. Really though whats the worst can happen with junk mail?

I used to get a lot from the likes of Foxtons and other spammers just because of where I lived. I was often away from home on business and would come back to a mailbox stuffed full of junk with my genuine post hanging out or on the ground all around sopping wet and sodden from rain. Not happy.

I collected a couple of month's worth which filled a bin bag, drove over to Foxtons and chucked the lot all over the place and walked out without a word.
  16. wizard101's avatar
Theres no way this is going to last long , well I don't see how anyway.

It will be like blyk where it lasted a few months but we will see.

Its pretty good though , you only pay £5 and thats it .

This is also prob better for mobile broadband than samba mobile.

Also I don't know if you know this yet, but if you went over your 512mb allowance, does it give you any notification or anything ? Or a way to check ?

The £5 bonus is given in credit on your phone so it is not effectively refunding the £5 connection charge. You will have £10 of credit on the phone instead of £5. An extra £5 credit is good but not as good as £5 cash.

Thanks shaggydabbydo passed this over to my dad & he commented as follows:

WOW didn't realise you could get this much info for free, well researched

05485162 : ZAND CONSULTATIVE SERVICES LIMITED (which seems to be the only active company of the one's you'd sent over)
Recommendation: In our view this company is a high credit risk. You must take suitable guarantees.

The company as per the 31 Dec 2011 has no money in the bank no cash, just £3914 in fixed assets and liabilities (ie creditors) of nearly £3500. A worthless company basically. The figures from:

    companycheck.co.uk/com…162

relate to the 30th April 2011 accounts, seems they took the money & ran

06768633 : ASK PAMI LIMITED (setup on 9/12/08). Again (this seems to be a constant with this fraudster) co setup NO TRADE reported (how can these charlatans get away with non-payment of their taxes when us working people have to pay the damn stuff, is that happens to us honest folk!)

Currently he's involved or has been:

    07435849 GRAND SLAM MOBILE LIMITED
07456222 MOBIUS MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT SOLUTIONS LIMITE
    07768728 OVIVO MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED

    06768633 ASK PAMI LIMITED
    05485162 ZAND CONSULTATIVE SERVICES LIMITED

All companies he has been involved in either are valueless or have no trading history with companies house, nor with HMRC/Inland Revenue

Someone should report this guy to HMRC for non-payment of their taxes as he has been vat reg'd in the past!!!

Some on this thread state is there any harm in providing one's own personal information, tracking history (both online activities, websites viewed, searches made aswell as GPS assisted locations visited), personal contact & address info from your smartphone, credit card history ... It'd be fine with a company like BT but with a guy who seeks to close companies down within a 2 yr timescale, where he has a very chequered history ...

    14589782-LVUr4

Can you really trust this guy with ALL your personal data

If you don't mind him using your ID for whatever purposes he intends to, then go ahead. I know i won't be & neither will any of my family members!

only when using credits, people also have the option not to have their details shown on the electoral register and also have ex directory numbers.

does it also show cc info on 192.com?

    Nope didn't think so.

its much easier for a rogue trader to sit back and get concise up to date info with cc info included (whats known as fulls to credit card scammers)

You must be new to reality though so I will let it pass.
  27. deleted555802's avatar
If they are taking their online payments through a third-party company, then they don't get you credit card details. It is all handled by the intermediatory.

You've more chance losing your cc details in a corner shop with a hacked chip and pin device, than using online companies (provided they are secure connections - ie HTTPS verified by a trusted organisation)

I'm VERY content with this service!

Sim arrived. Popped it into my Samsung E1150 non-3G non-Android non-Apple non-Window phone and it worked straight away. Went online and put in the phone number and my password and logged in straight away. £5.00 was already credited on my account. Just called the wife on her Orange phone and she answered. Just checked online in Call History and that call is already registered as is the length of the call and what looks to me like a rolling Balance (ie, still £5.00).

    Remarkable!

Hopefully I can purchase a Samsung Galaxy S3 so can start using the data as well at some point. I HIGHLY recommend this service! Woohoo!!!
