Contract was coming up, so I called o2 to discuss getting a new contract with them.

First Customer service person offered me a really crap deal, so I asked to be put through to the cancellation department.

There I bargained and eventually got:
200 xnet minutes
500 xnet texts
Samsung G600 (the 5 megapixel camera! Worth around £200 on ebay)
12 month contract

and all for only £20/month

If you sell the phone, your contract works out to roughly £3.50 a month. I know there are completely free cashback contracts out there, but hey... you get the £200 upfront from selling the phone and there's no cashback involved!

If you want to keep the phone, its still quite a good deal. e2save aren't even close to matching it.

Not to criticise the deal or anything but not that great lol. Orange are doing a pretty good deal on G600 with Free evening and Weekend calls to landlines and a decent amount of minutes/texts for £25 a month. Check it out

this is because your contract is soon up?

doubt they would give it to new customers

I got the same phone but £15 a month. The initial offer was the same as the one you listed, but then I told them I want a cheaper offer with less text but more minute. Then this is my deal:

250 xnet anytime min
30 xnet off-peak min
40 xnet txts
Samsung G600
12 month contract

Well we can all post deals like that?

I get 500 anytime mins and 1000 text for £15, but have been with vodafone for 9 years to get that.

Sorry guys voting cold on this one.

Is there a way to get that same offer even though your on pay as you go on o2?

If you have been a long term PAYG customer and spent a fair bit you might get a good contract deal. Just phone up and ask you got nothing to loose.

I agree, have just renewed on THREE for £10/month for 500mins xnet and 100 texts having been with them for 1 year. Worth asking for if your contract is up for renewal.

Bah, I've been with 3 for two years and they won't give me a retention deal as good as that... the best offer I've had from them so far is 300m 150t for £15pm, and that was at the end of their second phone call, this one lasting 40 minutes... :/

Is that keeping your old phone or a with new one? I'm up for renewal also..

Just got a new G600 with 900 flex mins (on flex 35) AND 3000 anytime any network weekend mins from T mobile as a contract renewal.
Mind you if you do the Racoon £35/month (orange) they are giving £180 back which works out that first 5 1/2 months are free.

New customers won't get this deal only ones with contract that are due to expire
