Not a great deal...can get 300 Imation for £2 more (£28.26):

Thanks for the pointers both :)

Are the Imation discs Taiyo Yuden Dye MrShed?
Taiyo Yuden dye is regarded as the best dye available and Plextor is one of the best brands in this arena. That's why I posted these particular discs. I'm well aware that there are cheaper discs available.
I dont think so rayman, but dont even know what that means!! All I know is I always use Imation, and never had any problems with them.
OK bingsy...in that case I am sure that others may think it is a good deal :) I however, do not, as you are spending more money on something that does the same job - not a deal as I see it I'm afraid!
They aren't doing the same job as Taiyo Yuden Dye is vastly superior to any other dye on the market. In basic terms these discs will have a longer lifespan. When it comes to blank discs the dye you get is vital, not so much the brand name.
IMO it is doing the same job, as I have Imation CDRs off ten years ago that still work. Therefore, for me, they do the same job.
Taiyo Yuden dye is definitely considered to be superior to all others in terms of longevity and (more importantly) data integrity. For long term storage of large amounts of data their DVD+Rs are the best.

Still, for those of you who want 'cheap' to the exclusion of everything else, I am sure you can pick up 500 CD-Rs for a quid at Poundland...
Well, it is clearly doing the exact same job. You COULD argue that it is doing the same job better, but as I have never ever had a CDR or DVDR fail or lose data integrity on it, using media without this dye, it is my opinion that it cannot do the job better as it is exactly the same result. For the vast majority of people, this deal is not hot, as the extra spend is surplus to requirements. However, in a business environment for example, I can understand the need for this higher requirement.
From my own personal experience, cheap CD-R's are perfectly fine, not had a problem with a single disc ever! No matter what brand.

However, with DVD-R's you need to buy quality, I personally go for G05 dyes (Ritek 50 DVD-R FF printables)
I agree Imation discs are amoung the best out there. While dyes are important for spin speed (which can cause coasters) they are certainly not as much as a concern as cassette tape types used to be (for audio),which by coincidence, Taiyo yuden used to make some of the best tape around!

There's plenty of decent manufacturers around from likes of TDK whom been in the recording business for years & Verbatim to name a couple.

Yup and both of those are expensive like Taiyo Yuden dye discs are. There is a reason for that. You get what you pay for.
Plextor are an amzingly high quality brand, I always rely on them for my most important archiving stuff - this is a great deal.
