I haven't been too impressed with the Wii points system. I think it was 500 points just to download the Wii Opera browser for internet connectivity when Opera is a free download any where else and the really old retro games are quite expensive.

I'm a Wii numpty. We downloaded the browser but haven't downloaded anything else yet.

What would you recommend?

Well we've only had ours since christmas and just about everything I can see for downloading seems very over priced and add to that the very limited disk space anyway. I think it's just cheaper to buy the disks. We just bought Wii Fitness Coach for about £15. That would probably buy you Pacman on Wii points.

You have a valid point, when the Wii points cards were £20. For example, the 2 games I list below would have been £15 and £9.xx respectively. At half the price (ie £9.87 for 2000 pts) both games are a stand out bargain (hence the heat and rep)

I have a wii. Whats the 'virtual console'? Can you play DS games on your wii or something? :)

For those who just want the internet browser, you could do what i did, with every nintendo made game (and maybe some other games) for the wii and with official nintendo hardware you get a sheet of paper for club nintendo, on the back is a code, just register with club nintendo, enter the code to get some star points (depending on what product it is you'll get a different amount of points). Once you have collected 2000 star points, you can exchange it for 500 wii points which is just enough to buy the internet channel.

I managed to get it with:
Wii Concole
Wii Sports
Wii Play
Mario Kart
and im not sure but i think they gave me an extra 200 star points just for opening an account which you have to anyway.
But i think you can use the club nintendo codes that come with the ds.

Sorry thats its slightly off topic but if youre like me and just want the internet channel it isnt worth spending £10 but if you want the old gameboy games then it is a good price! As i was going to buy the points before i realised you can do this. Haha

And when you get the internet channel a good website to go on is www.miiwiigames.com, they have loads of free online games for the wii. Also i found it allot easier if you change the settings for the bottom menu to button toggle because i found it kept getting in the way.

Also register your birthday and when it comes you get another 50 stars. Not a lot I know but handy when you are only that amount short of a card. Got my 50 stars today. :D

No I am a fan but I don't think the online points are good value. I've just had my first sesh on the My Fitness Coach and i'm knackered!
#20
looking at the cost of all of the downloads, all i can say is that i love Homebrew
#21
yep, you have me sold on the world of goo also.
#22
heat added and 2 ordered. i too missed the shopto deal a week or so ago so been waiting for them to come around again at this price.
#23
At full price, the VC is pretty pricy, but with this deal they come down to around £2.50 for NES games, £3 for SNES and £5 for N64, which for someones brought up on budget Speccy games seems a reasonable price range - definitely a hot deal
#24
Thanks very much, can't wait to get World Of Goo and looking at the ratings so should everyone else!!!
#25
Excellent deal, always makes sense to stock up when there's some cheap points around. Bought two cards myself, thanks.
#26
Great deal, heat and rep added! Just ordered two of them, usually £15.00 everywhere else. Anyone who hasn't already done so download World of Goo, its fantastic!

:-DThanks for the info. very helpful. once I download the Opera Borwser on Wii, Can I watch streaming videos on it?
Another question: When Downloading from the Wiiware do I get an option to save the download on the SD card( mine is 2GB) rather then into the console memory?:?

Thanks for that rep heading your way this is 50% off rrp so hot from me
#33
Thanks for the heat and rep everyone. I ordered 2 of these as well, and based on what previous shoppers have said about dvd.co.uk things should work out fine. Time will tell :-D
#34
I've just ordered some of these! Thanks so much! Heat and rep! As for the wii downloads, I love them. I've always collected the stars from games (they can be swapped for wii points too!) and I've downloaded some amazing old games since having my wii at launch. Now the games cannot be moved from console to console, but they can be copied onto your SD card if you've got one, and I've got 6 games downloaded and still have space, but it's something you can do if you're concerned about space.

Now the games cannot be moved from console to console, .

What happens if your console breaks and you need to buy a replacement?

Secondly, does anyone know how the PC version of World of Goo compares to the Wii one? I understand the PC is higher res, but the Wii has a coop mode?

Yeah it was Shopto - I ordered but they still haven't arrived, have anyone elses?

Yeah - mine arrived next day post !! Great service from shopto !!

great deal
hotttttttttttttttttttt
What happens if your console breaks and you need to buy a replacement?

From what I understand Nintendo only charge about £30 to fix it, so you get the same one back, if not I guess when you link your account again you get all the games back.
