Some good effects, but may not be so good on the small screen.

As for the story, its a typical poxy yank script where the whole story relies on totally impossible coincidences, by which the hero's get from the US to China and live to save the world. Hurrah!

It just so happens, that one of the group is a pilot, and there just happens to be a plane available ...... cue some totally implausible flying through cracks in the earth and falling buildings.

Don't think too much, and it will be enjoyable

Um. This about the worst film ever made.
Stop buying it. =\

Then you've had a lot of lucky escapes.

It's a poor film, but exaggerated statements like that aren't going to influence anyone.

Surely if it's a crap film then it's a crap deal?

Hardly!?! Just because its a crap film to you does not make it a crap film, to someone else it could be great, in which case this IS a deal

Its not common place to rate a deal on whether you like the product, if that was the case I'd vote 90% of the deals as crap!

TBH I love popcorn flicks, and I enjoyed this only for one reason.

subwoofer special effects and sound for my new monitor audio RSW12.

The story could have been a lot better

Hehe ... by the same logic a crap deal to one person is a good deal to another? ;-)

I was only messing with the other poster, I've already said that its a good film ..... just don't think about it too deeply

And turn up the sub-woofer!

Um. This about the worst film ever made.

Obviously you've never seen 'Battlefield Earth'.
Some still believe Travolta was blackmailed into starring in it :-D .

ok to all the haters which is a better film this or starship troopers 2 or 3,some people get off on hating big budget films(this)/games(modern warfare)/whatever-something big gets a couple of good reviews and you'll find twice as many review sites trying to be different by giving it a naff review for publicity. It's not the best film i've seen but there are far worse out there, very good price for a new release voted hot!

Comments like this are annoying.
Where people say some blockbuster is the worst movie ever made.
You obviously haven't seen many movies if you think this is bad.
#22
Agreed. All media is objective. That's what makes it interesting.

The positive or negative comments of an individual, particularly a 'layman' who is so egocentrical as to believe that anyone else actually cares what they think, would never have an influence on my decision to view the object in question.

I'll make up my own mind, if that's okay with the Movie Police.

Okay, okay. My comment was an obvious exaggeration.
Exaggeration is a fairly common and legitimate way of conveying a point.

If you have £8 to spend, and are a fan of films, then there is an infinity of better 'deals' out there.

To me, this is the kind of film you would feel bad about having spent two and a half hours watching. Where is the satisfaction? Why would you want to do that with your money?

You realised you called it 'objective', then described it as 100% 'subjective', right?
I am more than just a mere Movie-Police-man.

Peace off, you guys. Don't forget the Blu-Rays at Mymemory - this is in the 2 for 20 deal - with topcashback, can be 20-1.60 = 9.20 each. Pair with another like Terminator 4, Skynet Termy 2 (watch out for Zombieland which was in offer last week).

Love your films and don't watch Citizen Kane - it's rubbish, no matter how many ceilings were made for it!
#26
I watched this on blu-ray the other night and the special effects etc are good. As long as you dont take the film to seriously and go along for the ride its decent enough. Good price.
#27
Studios make this kind of film knowing that it's mindless and people will pay to walk into a cinema to see it. The more films that are made that way, the more films that will be made that way.

It is entirely your choice what you spend your money on, but I would really hope that you'd want to at least consider spending it on something a little more cerebral but still highly enjoyable, so that better films might be made in the future.

2012 is basically the same film as The Day After Tomorrow with the same director, just not as good - hardly any scenes of destruction of major landmarks, which let's face it is all you'd expect, and a really stupid story to fill in all the massive gaps in between.

And yes, art is subjective, but I would love to hear a justification for why Citizen Kane is rubbish.. ;)
#28
Sometimes people just want a mindless action film to watch...
#29
Granted. But some people just want to be mindless all the time, which is part of a much bigger problem.
#30
Great price - just ordered a copy!

PS 3% quidco too (possibly!)

I'm puzzled, isn't this film a bit pish and destined to be next years shelf-filler in poundland?

The story isn't amazing, but the special effects sure are.
