2012 Outwell Montana 6P Family Tent @ Go Outdoors £307.80 (Price match + 10% off)

xlgazxlgaz

Yeoman's (www.yeomansoutdoors.co.uk) are selling the 2012 Montana 6P for £379.99 (RRP: £749.99). They also have a 10% off code (YEOAFF10) bringing it down to £341.99. I rang Yeoman's to confirm they had stock.

Next I called in to the Go Outdoors store and asked the manager if he could price match the £341.99 and give me the 10% off extra which they advertise. He checked the Yeoman's deal/discount code online and agreed to it... £341.99 - 10% = £307.80.

The 6P is a great 6 berth tent and always scores very highly in reviews on family tents.

Don't get confused with the basic Montana 6 version though advertised at £299.99 (still a very good tent) - the Montana '6P' stands for Premium and is more waterproof (Hydrostatic Head of 5000mm), includes tinted windows, extra corner windows for a panoramic view and a trolley bag with wheels. It comes in green too which is a nicer colour than the Montana 6 Mocha colour (only my opinion though)

I won't include the whole spec but you can find more details and a video about the 6P on Outwell's site at:

www.outwell.com/en/Products/Tents/Premium/Montana6P.aspx

*** PS: If you want the carpet to go with it - I also tried to get the 6P carpet thrown in for £350 all-in but he wouldn't do it. He did agree to price match www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk at £69.99 delivered and give me 10% off making £62.99 - still a pretty good price though as Go Outdoors currently advertise it for £101.70. ***

Do you need a go outdoors card if you order online?

This tent weighs 58.6kg in total. Over double what a nylon tent weighs. Not had a nylon tent break down in the sun yet after over 3 months use in the sun. The ground sheet has disintegrated though after 16 years.

You don't need a discount card as you're not trying to get their special instore advertised 'discount card' price. You are asking them to price match a competitor and giving them an opportunity for a sale.

That's not to say they won't try to sell you a discount card while you are there though!

Just remembered when i rang... the manager at GoOutdoors did say if i wanted to reserve and collect it i could do it online. The price online is a discount card price of £399.99 though so you would probably need a discount card if you was going to do it that way. You would then pay the price matched/10% off price on collection **providing Yeoman's have it in stock at the point of collection**

I found it much easier to confirm Yeoman's had stock then go straight into GoOutdoors then there is a smaller chance Yeomans would run out of stock before you managed to collect.

about time outwell brought out a bag on wheels , back breaking 59 kgs and a bag so tight to get it all back in , we have the outwell nebraska xxl including foot print and carpet , used once with 2 miserable teens who would never come camping again and campsites wanting to charge for size of tent not people that are in it , robbing gits in swanage wanted £75 a night for two , tent is too big for hook up pitch size and a lot of camp sites dont want these large tents , so given up the camping !

The Nebraska XXL is quite a bit bigger than this tent - 10 berth I think (and a T-shape)

you think it's unfair a camp site charges a 2 man dome tent cheaper than a 10 man house sized tent? lol

Just come back from wales at the weekend where we were charged per pitch rather than size of tent. But everywhere else I've been along the Thames did ask for the size of tent where space was limited. £75 per night...where was that?

Drives me mad the pitch price for size. Tents have moved on with the times, unfortunately pitch sizes haven't. We have a 6 berth, smallish tent and a 12 berth 7.5 x 6.5, and we use them both depending on the length of stay and site. Having 3 young kids and this unpredictable weather we get I need something big enough to actually live in!

tbis was at hurston campsite swanage , i never said i should pay the same as a two man tent , i merely think in this case ,it should go per pitch ,if your tent is too big for pitch size and they pjt you in a field and a three field trek for a toilet or washing is taking tbe **** of trying to charge me for a ten man tent when only two of us ,and the other person is right ,times have changed with tents,
