This is a re-post of MillerCat's deal (see next post) but thought it worthy of submitting now Google Checkout offer £10 off £30 spend. The LiteOn drive is now 20x.

To get price £21.21 I added 50x DVD discs (code 3445) at £8.25 to the DVD (£12.98). You then have to add items to take the total up to £30, and order via google-checkout with saver delivery selected (should be 99p with the DVDs mentioned).

Just to make it clear, the £21.21 price is for the drive with 125 blank DVDs, but basically you can get the drive, 50 blank DVDs and then £8 worth of goods of your choice for £21 delivered.

I thought this worthy of a repost with updated offer - all credit should go to millercat and wasted

Originates from this thread:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66997

For the price mentioned, I added 50 discs code 3522, and 25 discs code 3614. I don't suggest you do this though, just add the DVD and the 50 discs code 3445 then shop around to get the total (thankfully displayed on the screen) over £30. When you click to order via Google Checkout you should see the price indicating a £10 discount, and also delivery at 99p - the total cost including delivery could be as low as £20.99!

Updated Specifications - Write Speed:
DVD-R: 20x
DVD-RW: 6x
DVD-R DL: 8x

DVD+R: 20x
DVD+RW: 8x
DVD+R DL: 8x

DVD-RAM: 12x

CD-R: 48x
CD-RW: 32x

Feel free to delete this thread if deemed appropriate, just though it was worth updating as it was a good deal and its now excellent!

Thanks jah128  Well worth the repost i think, good find!

PC Advisor ranks this at #2 in their DVD Writers top 5, stating:

"This is one of the more consistent and reliable models"

They also state that its worth the money at £25, making this a super deal, even before Google checkout. Note that the PC Advisor review is of the white model, although i cannot see any real difference.

Thanks OP, voted Hott!

EDIT - Does the Google checkout £30 include Tax or not, and how did you get £0.99 delivery, mine is showing up as full price still?
#4
Gooogle checkout takes £10 off orders which total £30 excluding delivery but including tax, so if the order total is £30.00 + del before discount you will pay £20 + del. Once you are logged into Google checkout the final screen before you order should clearly display the actual cost you will pay (if you are following this order it should be around £21!) indicating the discount and 99p shipping option. The first screen when you choose to order makes it appear like your £10 discount is on the ex-vat price (so it looks even better) but it isn't - it's recalculated on the final page before you order when you have selected shipping.

LiteOn have always been one of the leading DVD drive manufacturers and the list price of £12.98 is already cracking value - the fact that you can now effectively get £8 worth of extra free stuff with your purchase is great!

Ah, thanks jah128, i'd gone with another set of disks thinking it didnt matter, for all curious here is my order.

Top stuff, its worth shopping about to fill up the total to £30 and buy exactly what you want - they have some cracking deals on ink cartridges, photo paper, flash memory, batteries and things like that so I'd be very surprised if anyone can't find something they want to bring the total up!

Also note there are lots of other items that qualify for the 99p shipping, I just guessed that most people ordering a DVD-RW will probably want some blank DVDs with it!
#7
The drive writes at 20x but are there any disks that can be written at that speed yet?
#8
v2 - Why would they delete it?
Red - I doubt it, means nothing really anyway (10s faster per disc than 16x maybe).

Here's a deal: LiteOn DVD-RW, 50 blanks DVDs and a 19" Monitor for £25 delivered!

Quote from this months PC Advisor:

Lite-Ons SmartWrite technology can write to media much faster than the media would normally support-20-speed writing requires just 16-speed media
#10
won`t films go outta sync and things at that speed?
#11
20x is a complete gimmick - in fact tbh even 16x is a gimmick.

Oh, btw the Lite-on 20A1 drive is great with those Infiniti 8x discs, as long as you download smartburn and turn on force HT.

Does anyone know which other items give the 99p shipping discount?

I voted cold, as the DVD writer is good, but the deal posted isn't, i get 100 blank DVD's for £10 taking it to 23. So really, you spend more than you need to just to save £10.

If I've read that right I think you've got it wrong.
The OP got the writer +125 discs for £21.21 whereas you got 25 discs less and paid £23?

Try clicking on 99p Delivery Items.. :whistling: :whistling:

The list is here: http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?cid=225

Considering delivery is normally £5 some of them are quite good value!

Just to clarify to dcx and others, the deal is really just making people aware that SVP have both a cracking DVD burner deal, a good 99p delivery offer and also the google checkout offer - what I suggest people do is add the DVD burner and the 50 discs which allow cheap delivery, then add £9 worth of extra stuff of their choice to bring the subtotal to £30 (which they will only pay £21 for with delivery!).
#15
will this write dual layer discs does anyone know? thnx

Thank you

to get dvds at that price £10/100 they must be rubbish

this deal is awesome, the dvd writer was cheap before but with something from 99p delivery section you can get it so cheap the ty verbatim 16x dvd+r and dvd-r are good disks
#19
Cold toast - Yes, DVD-R and DVD+R DL at upto 8x

They sell DL discs from around £5.50 for 10 also, so you could get for example the drive, the 50 blank DVDs and then 20 blank double layer discs for about £23 delivered.

Computer Fair near me, here's link: http://www.computermarkets.co.uk/ i go to the Bradford, one. I get Bulkpaq 8X DVD-R's, 100 for £10, been using Bulkpaq disks for years never had a problem, they also have bigger brands disks for about £12 for 100.

Bulkpaq = avoid, avoid, avoid.

I have been tempted over the years by Bulkpaq's amazing prices only to be let down time after time with both CD's and DVD's. I really should of learnt the lesson early on.

The old addage 'you get what you pay for' is still true for most things these days - including blank discs.

Stick with Ritek and Datawrite's people. There's a reason why Bulkpaq are cheap.

I use Maxell or TDK which are both very good. The last pack I bought was about a tenner for 50 Maxell -Rs 16x's from Costco.
#22
thanks, just got one

cheers

Datawrite can be OK, but they use a lot of different media types so unless you know in advance it can be tricky. The ones using MCC are good, those using CMC are crappy. SVP are good in this regard because they tell you what dye the disc has.

Of course, if you stick with Verbatim, you can't really go wrong. They only use quality dyes (MCC, TYG, YUDEN), so with a recent writer you're pretty much guaranteed a good burn (I've never had a Verb coaster). They're not that expensive either, around a fiver for a 25-pack.
#24
Got one.

Thanks :)
#25
Ordered the SATA version, cables (power and data) and 50 DVD-R disks for £23 delivered :whistling: Excellent, need another good burner.
#26
Can anyone confirm what sort of bitsetting this drive allows? A search of it's model number on the net only brings up the comment on the SVP site where someone says it won't bitset dvd+rw to dvd-rom.

Does it allow bitsetting on dvd+r and dual layer out the box or is a custom firmware required?
#27
thanks to OP just ordered mine:thumbsup:
#28
this will go perfectly for my dell desktop black drive which i was looking for
#29
Didnt really need another but went for it anyway! got the 50 dvd-r and some batteries to get the google £10 off. Cheers! :)
#30

SVP have twin-packs of Rayovac AA alkaline batteries for only 19p (code 5643) - well worth a few packs bump up the total.
#32
For these discs, TYG/Yuden and MCC RG20 discs are good as always, but they seem to like MCC 003/004 more. These are 10p each, astonishing value:

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2273

Just burned one of these for 6k PI, 250 PIF. If you want 16x MCC 004:

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2351

Tip: for all MCC first use the EEPROM util and smarburn (see cdfreaks Liteon forum) to clear the drive memory, then switch on "force HT". Most MCC discs need this for top notch burns, and it doesn't hurt with any other disc I've tried.
#33
Excellent find. Shame these are out of stock at moment. Except the Sata one priced at £24
#34
Thanks for the tipoff Clint, guess they must have had quite a few sales in the last couple of days since GC promotion started. This one can probably be set to expired I guess.
#35
Np's Jah. Tempted to buy the sata one. I use imageburn and other software at the moment and it takes like 30+ mins to burn to disk and i am after a faster dvd writer.
#36
Ta, pity the SATA drive isn't really a great deal though (it's not bad but worth checking ebuyer and aria etc at that price).
#37
Thanks to the OP for this deal.

I received DH-20A1P today. I didn't actually notice it was the DH version of the drive when I ordered. But anyway I was able to successfully flash it to LH-20AIP using the Liteon Flash Utility.

Been getting some excellent quality burns with the latest KL0M firmware.

Thanks again :-D
#38
Thanks for the feedback, vdub. Could you possibly explain a bit more about the differences and why its worth flashing? I missed my delivery today but I'm about to go and collect it.
#39
Quick note these are back in stock at the moment for £16.99
