Good deal as play is selling these for £17. Just have to wait until the video marketplace comes to the UK.

Cheers, looking forward to a lot of this Summers Live arcade games.

Prince of Persia, Tron, Wing Commander, Bomberman and The old Amiga classic, Sensible World of Soccer.

Voting "warm" for the decent price, but the company isnt the best. Very slow in my dealings with them.

This is a good price, but I personally dont agree with buying a game and then having to download cars etc. Its as if the games not complete

the game is complete you are just adding to it and do not have to if you do not wish

I've been trying to avoid buying live points but when Wing Commander comes out......

Voted hot £2 cheaper than elsewhere as OP says.

I dont bother with Live Points waste of money as the stuff only exists in the virtual world

You can buy Xbox Live Arcade games...

That's the funny thing about computer games. They are virtual.

I guess you'd prefer it if Microsoft sent you a costume, and a script and ordered you across the town.

is this the 12 months one? i just paid 15 for 3 months......

Think you are missing the point. These are Microsoft Virtual pennies not an xbox live subsciption.
You use the points to buy arcade games and extras from xbox live market place.

Not strictly true. There are lots of items on the marketplace which already exist on the game discs you buy but you have to pay to unlock them. So the content is not additional it's existed before the game was released and also may be free on other formats of the same game.

EA have mined the marketplace for every last point they can get in the past year, in particular they have even gone as far as selling 'cheat code' unlocks that are still free to use via button combos on other formats of the same game
eg. http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=33554

That being said. If you're going to use the 360 online in the long term you will end up spending points so grab them cheap while you can.

Now begins a mini-rant about value:

Microsoft points cost more/less to buy in different regions even though they are identical virtual products that bear no change in cost when sold online.

In USA 800 points = $10. Even before the dollar weakened the difference was vast. Now the equivalent price for 800 points in the UK is $13.50 and in Europe $12.60. This is a huge difference, 1/3 more expensive in UK and 1/4 more for Europe and yet we all get exactly the same virtual spending power. 10-15% may be arguable for retail sale of points but over a third for online sales has to be excessive.

I wonder at what rate Microsoft pay commission from marketplace sales to British/European companies. If they pay the standard American rate then where is all that extra cost to the rest of the world for buying the points ending up? Hmmm.

What this means is that effectively you get one free arcade game for every three you buy if you live in USA rather than the UK.

If we were talking about buying actual products like games then you could argue discrepancies in prices for regionalisation but we're talking about buying virtual points from the same source for use in the same shop.

It's like you walking into a cinema and buying a ticket that lets you see any movie you choose. But you are being charged more/less depending on which counter you buy from. All the counters are the same, none cost more to run and once you're in the screen you all sit together, it's all the same. So why charge more for some and less for others?

What a joke I ordered this off MX2 and puyt it to be delivered at my uni address and obviously billed at my home address. Fine.

Now 2 days later they email me to say you can only get it delivered to your delivery address. They never said this whilst ordering and they take TWO DAYS to cancel my order and inform me.

Ugh, Im getting this off play.com instead then.
#13
well if its delivered to your billing address all you need to do is get someone to open it and scratch it off for you.

their packages have MX2 on the labels.

and they ship from jersey so that accounts for some postal delays. i have bought 3 lots of points off these people, yes they take a little while to come but i can wait a few days for them.

Oh and as for the moaning about incomplete games, it does completely depend on how you decide to view it. i saw the additional maps on call of duty 3 as a good thing, i paid £30 for the game and for about £7 i got 50% more maps, i had got my monies worth out of the game already so it was a bonus.

what annoys me is 800 points for an arcade game that doesn't work now my box is not connected to xbox live at the moment.

If I understand you correctly, you want to know the cheapest way to buy as close to 800 points? I think the lowest card you can buy is 1600 but I'm not sure I've seen these lately (or ever) in this country. Basically, the answer is for you to buy them online via your 360 or at xbox.com where they will cost you £8.50 for 1000 points. If you want to buy a card then this is a pretty good price for 2100 points but you will have to wait to play Bomberman (only reason I can think to spend 800 at the mo).

Whinging about paying for extra content is frankly a waste of your time. This is generally accepted in the industry as one of the main new ways to generate profit/recoup development costs. Frankly you are going to see a lot more of it on all internet connected consoles and if you're not willing to pay for it you won't be playing it. It can be a bit of a con on occasion and it is up to you to decide what is worth buying but often if you wait a few months the content becomes free anyway. There are rules in place that effectively state that if the content is free or included on another platform (PC or PS3 etc) then they cannot charge you for it on live. Examples of this are the Rainbow six and Lost Planet map packs that have recently become free for that reason.

If you bought the EA content mentioned above then frankly you should have known better it is EA after all.

£16.49 for 2100 points - http://www.choicesuk.com/Product.aspx/!822848, £15.67 with quidco (not 100% sure quidco works on this item though, can someone verify this?).
#24
Choices are cheapest right now (even better than ebay, inc MX2 on there), although they are out of stock as mine is reading "Awaiting Stock" since last week

To answer the quidco question...

12 Jul 2007 ChoicesUK.com 15.67 0.78 tracked*

So it comes to £14.89 total
#25
But it says its £16.49 on the link, and it says it's in stock :o

Ohhhhhhhh. In that case you have to go through Quidco to earn cashback to get it to work out at £15 odd.
