Thats a fair deal if your ps3 is out of warranty or maybe showing signs of age
#2
Does the new slim come with a dualshock or old six axis ?

I wouldnt mind doing this but both my kids one have been upgraded to DS3s. I would sooner buy a cheap controller and i wonder if i got the cheapest of the cheap second hand off fleabay, not necessarily a genuine Sony one, and they would still accept it ?
#3
Dang, thats great if nation wide and not local promotion.

Will have to wait for more detail though, this will differ for types ?. I have a 60gb that "should" be worth more than a 40.
#4
I'll be interested to see if this happens.
#5
Is it for any old PS3 or does teh pric differ dependant upon the version??
#6
What type of old ps3? 40 gig, 60 gig or 80 or all 3? Any idea. thanks
#7
i have the old 60gb version i wonder if it's worth it to me?
#8
Sorry just read the link to it... it is DS3.

I wonder how many peeps are gonna go buy the cheap controllers and swap with them... if you are allowed ?
#9
Just rang Huyton, they knew nothing about this deal
#10
I guess I just wasted time and money selling mine on eBay then! This deal sounds too good to be true, I can't see gamestation doing this. The reports are that there is little profit in the Slim for retailers as it is let alone them giving you more than market value as trade in. If this is true then I imagine it would be very limited.
#11
Wouldn't vote on this just yet, called my local and they pretty much just laughed. Said you'll get no where near that much. Does seem a tad generous seeing as you can pick up a used 40gig on ebay for like £150
#12
Yeah this is a good offer if it is nationwide, especially if your console is getting old
#13
What was your store OP?
#14
When I rang I said I had the 60gb one and thats the price she gave its because they are trying to beat cex. Also she said if you have the box it will be that price .
You get a dualshock controller with the new slim ps3
So it looks like you pay £35 for the new one trading in old one .
Im hoping to go soon so may have more info later, just trying to back up some data lol not going well.
#15
Yeah i to am now a little bit sceptical about this deal !
#16
St helens say £130
#17
This deal is at the gamestation in Cheltenham it should be at all stores, not fair otherwise.
#18
I just phoned up the glasgow suachihall st branch excuse spelling - £180 for 60gig version £80 to upgrade to new slim
#19
Doesn;t the trade value vary based on the HD size? I've ready on other forums they are only offering around £130 trade for the 40Gb models, or has the offer changed?
#20
just a word of warning re getting a new one - apparently there could be a little trouble transferring content such as singstar downloaded songs linked to the old machine to the new one, as sony playstation will only do this if the old one breaks!!!
#21
Dont think this is nationwide unfortunatly

I can confirm this deal. I took mine in at the weekend and got £214 for my 60GB PS3.

Effectively I spent £35.99 to get a new PS3 Slim, New Dualshock Controller, 12 Months Warranty and I was also told the Slim will come with a bundled game :-D

why expired???As it isnt ..
#26
Just rang my local gamestation... £120 for a 40gig ;-)

Better off selling it second hand LOL !!
#27
Just rung Bradford store, they said £110 for 40gb model but they will price match plus £1 against any local stores, but need to take proof. They will accept print out of website. Therefore looks like £158 trade in making the new console £91.99

Sorry should have said this is based n CEX trade value of £157 + £1, seems to be best offer for 40gb model at the minute, unless anyone knows a better one??
#28
Rang Bolton, they said £125 for the 60gb PS2 compatible model but said they would pricematch if anyone offered better. Just checked CEX website, and they are giving £198, so :)

I guess because your info is incorrect its been expired, perhaps you need to change the info in your header....

Firstly this seems to be only at one store that you rang, Cheltenham, and secondly its NOT on any old style PS3, it applies to the 60GB one only and was a "verbal quote" on that particular model, the backward compatibility of that particular model helps it hold more resale value than the other versions.
#30
so really how much do game get for your ps3? if thats just £100 i wouldnt mind paying that if anyone wants to sell theirs v. good condition 80gb or 60gb even the 40gb but the limited version only i will buy it from you let me know thanks
#31
in addition with my previous post this is only for whoever interested and £100 is not a bad price considering you can find maybe £220 for the new one so you are looking for £120 to pay additional for slim and 120gb.
#32
lmao
.

To clear things up -
Its £214 trade with price matching CEX on a 60GB PS3 model ?.

Do you have to have the CEX store in the same town as the Gamestation though ?. I hear so many conflicting reports that GS will match with an online printout despite no store near . My nearest CEX is 30 miles away.

I know my Gamestation will take a print out, however there is one just round the corner, the reason for the printout is that CEX don't give trade-in receipts in store and gamestation need proof.

I would check with you local store to see if they are doing the same offer and whether they will pricematch to a CEX 30 mles away or online. People have said CEX trade in for 60gb backwards compat model is £198 and gamestation match a quid better so you may only get £199, not the stated £214.

The closest I could see when using CEX would be a boxed 160gb model which CEX will trade for £210 so gamestation would give £211.

It wil be interesting to see if the OP gets the verbal deal offered when they actuallygo to the store.
#36
If you are getting 214 on a trade card including a £20 deposit sounds like the trade in is 194 which may be a cex price match on a 60gb?
#37
Just done it no problems just got £15.99 to pay tomorrow apparently it depends on what cex is offering in your area to what your gamestation is offering I didnt know this in beginning just thought it was a good deal and would let people know.

Cant edit as it wont let me now else I would change it to say 60gb. Also I only rang Cheltenham as thats where I live and would of thought it would be nationwide but now i know otherwise. And was a verbal quote whuch has been fulfilled.
#39
local deal only

my local shop in torquay offered me £150 trade in against a Slim, so another £100 to pay, I think I'll keep my 80gb, since the PS3 slim offers very little new in terms of hardware

Well done, you had quite the deal there as far as trade in value goes for sure  Although why trade in a superior product?!
