Thanks for the update. In case anyone asks this question again, scan will offer free delivery on items above £20 net. to particpants in hexus.net who can qualify for free lifetime shipping after a certain number of posts. Others received it through a scan deal on HUKD last year, I believe.

Nope, maybe too new for reviews? Checked hexus too but no responses there yet. Have briefly seen the 19" version from Daewoo (also from scan) in action and it looked good. No detail though, sorry. samsung A panels are what give me confidence with this one, as well as the 3-year on-site swap warranty. Scan are also a good company with returns / after-service etc.

I have the same monitor in `ipod white`, ive had it 6 months plus and it is awesome....its actually a samsung panel that it uses. I use it mainly for playing games and watching movies. The quality is superb with very little ghosting. would recommend it to anyone

Thanks for that, defard. Just what I needed to confirm what I saw on the 19" model. I've been hesitating but think I'll get one b4 the deal changes Monday. Anybody else got one they wanna review here?

defard, meant to ask about adjustment. My Samsung Syncmaster 206bw is a fantastic 20" monitor, but it is static. I adjust my slouch as the day progresses, so I'd like a monitor that adjusts with me. Can this one tilt and if so in what ways and how much? Cheers for any info.
#10
I have this monitor in front of me - it is brilliant! One of the best buys this year. No dead pixels too!
#11
Got 2 of these, one black, one white. Excellent monitors.
#12
tilts back and forwards by a respectable margin mate...tbh ive got a wobbly glass desk so its nice to have a monitor that you can get the right angle so you dont get a sore neck!
#13
That's three great reviews from HUKD users (thanks Jefft, Predikuesi & defard). I'm more convinced than ever. Can you confirm guys that this is a good price? Presumably you paid more if you already have them? Thanks.

Yes, in a sense, we are all in the same boat. Wanting to make a purchase but unsure of where we should take advice. All I can say is that I've had my eye on this Daewoo since I played around with the 19" model. I already have a Samsung 20" 206bw which is a great monitor and so I'm not that easily impressed. When I saw this deal on Scan today I was delighted but just needed some confirmation from people who've actually used it. I feel I've got that now from our three friends above. You are always taking a punt, so to speak, but at this price and with what I've gathered so far, I don't think this is much of a gamble (and, as mentioned, it has a Samsung A panel which which I'm already more than pleased with). I'm buying it! (Btw, I've got free shipping with Scan so it makes the decision easier.)

Yes and apparantly the Cibox also uses Samsung Panels so i have been told and they get really good ratings and are about the same price or a bit cheaper.

On another note, it's interesting that you are not thinking of the other deal that getting all the heat today - the Hyundai N220W-D 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor with DVI now £150 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/44327/hyundai-n220w-d-22-widescreen-lcd-m - it seems that members here are going wild about it but I can't see why. This one seems a better deal in all regards for me, both in spec and looks, so it's prob because most people don't have the Scan free shipping. But if you do get it, it seems like a no-brainer that this daewoo is worth an extra £1.59 (and the rest!). Or am I missing something?

About the free shipping.Anyone ever phoned scan and said hey i have heard some people have free shipping, anychance doing a one off for this item etc?

Good point. I'm pretty sure they would consider it but perhaps only if they thought you'd be a repeat customer. They give it away pretty easily to discussants on hexus.net on that reason alone - the thinking being I suppose that techies and computer nerds will be good customers. So if you can, give that impression when you phone! I've had occasion to phone scan on several occasions and my impression is always that they'll go the extra mile to help/clinch a deal. I'd think you could swing this, esp if you get someone who knows how to talk techie to phone...

It was the same price as in this post. I would highly recommend this monitor. I upgraded from a 19" CRT to the 22" Daewoo and was amazed at the difference - always thought it was hyp when others praised LCDs.
#21
thanks again Predikulesi - final question is about the speakers. I'll be using my own but just wondered what they are like. I wouldn't expect much from built-in speakers but are they ok?
#22
The built in speakers are not very good, just about adequate. If you want good sound you will need external speakers.

that's what I thought, thanks. Haven't come across a monitor yet with anything more than adequate.

Also bought it when it was last on deal at scan. Can't recommend it enough. One of the useful things for me is that it's just one button to swop between VGA input and DVI. Had one stuck pixel when it arrived but that has now cleared up. It's very bright out of the box but can easil be adjusted.

Thanks for adding that - all reviews very positive. Last question - what cable does it come with (not mentioned on Scan site).
#26
Just a VGA so don't forget to factor in another 20 quid or so for a DVI cable if you want digital.

Quite like the black casing on it but as with all things black it's very susceptable to dust! Will have to get the maid in again me thinks :whistling:
#27
Thanks again - didn't think I'd get a DVI cable but you never know. Yes my Black Sammy also collects dust but it does look good! (Maid? lol)
#28
Well I've now cancelled my order for the Video7 (with good reviews) and gone for this. Hope I made the right decision.

I found the speakers ok for my use, but I do not play music on my pc (used for word processing). I was pleased that this monitor had built-in speakers though since I need to test that the music is playing on some web sites I build and manage. I got rid of my external speakers too.

I've just been told the Daewoo is rubbish for text (which will be my main use) - how is it on yours?

Perhaps you can clarify? Who or what told you this? and what does this mean "rubbish for text"? If you have found a review it would be great to share it, thanks.
#32
OK, from Hexus discussion (forgive me for quoting someone without their permission):

I have the Daewoo 22inch, through DVI for gaming, it is crisp and clear, no ghosting on pro evo 6/tdu, a quick test for movies is also clear and crisp. Text on the other hand on some apps is very poor, it needs the sharpness adjusted, but I can't find any settings, I have tried to remedy the text on both dvi+vga/dif cables. Mine also arrived via Scan with 1 blue stuck/dead pixel and has developed a lazy red, the lazy red can be cleared by using a bright desktop background, but it comes back if power off/standby. I was told I could have sent it back under distance selling at my own cost, would have RMA it but it requires 4 dead pixels.

My Conclusion

Great for gaming
**** for text
And just another 2 dead pixels before I can RMA it

As stated in my previous post, I use it for word processing and find nothing wrong with it. Someone is talking rubbish!
#35
No dead pixels and perfect text on mine.

Does being a Lucoms mean good or bad? (sorry to hear about stuck pixels)
